However, viewers are astonished by yet another potential issue in their on-screen love story, as they discover that Nicole and Liev share a close friendship with Naomi Watts, Liev’s actual ex-partner, off the screen.
Naomi, who is 55 years old, and Liev, also 55, have been a couple for 11 years, starting in 2005 and ending their relationship in 2016. Despite not being married, they share two children: Sasha, aged 17, and Kai, who is 15.

Liev and Taylor welcomed their first child together, daughter Hazel in August 2023.
Susanne Bier, the director of “The Perfect Couple,” has shared insights into why the love scene between Nicole and Liev was intentionally made to feel awkward.
In conversation with Metro.co.uk, Susanne explained that the sequence where Nicole’s character Greer keeps telling Tag (Schreiber) not to touch her, followed by them eventually having sex, is intended to create a tense and awkward viewing experience.
In the creative process, I found myself grappling with a moment that felt somewhat awkward and uneven in terms of consent. It didn’t strike me as equally reciprocal.
Instead of focusing solely on the physical aspects, it served as a means to portray the emotional dynamics occurring between them, rather than simply the physical.
Moreover, it was deliberate. We fully comprehend the situation, yet we’re maintaining some elements under tight control or tension.
