The Penguin Receives Encouraging Update Regarding Season 2 Renewal

HBO CEO Casey Bloys has shared a new update on whether or not The Penguin Season 2 is happening.

Launched by Lauren LeFranc, The Penguin made its debut in September 2024. This series is a spin-off from the 2022 The Batman movie, directed by Matt Reeves, and features Colin Farrell returning as Oswald “Oz” Cobb, with Cristin Milioti playing Sofia Gigante.

There’s been a lot of discussion and conjecture about if The Penguin Season 2 is going to occur. An official confirmation is still pending, but those associated with the project suggest that a second season could be on the horizon.

What did Casey Bloys say about The Penguin Season 2?

When asked by Variety about the possibility of The Penguin Season 2, Bloys replied, “Currently, Matt [Reeves] is focusing on getting the movie off the ground. They seem to be making progress there. Matt and showrunner Lauren [LeFranc] have discussed potential ideas for another season. It’s certainly possible in the future. At this moment, though, Matt appears to be primarily focused on the movie. However, I know that Lauren has been brainstorming ideas that could complement the movie. It’s a possibility, but we’ll have to wait and see.

More recently, the script for “The Batman Part II” was submitted by Reeves, with its release date set for American theaters on October 1, 2027.

When queried about Farrell’s participation in The Penguin Season 2 as Oz, Bloys affirmed, “Indeed, he’s the ideal choice to embody that complex character and endure numerous hours daily in the makeup chair. Thus, his agreement is crucial.
