The Penguin: Cristin Milioti Gives Disappointing DC Return Update

Cristin Milioti, known for her role in ‘How I Met Your Mother,’ has discussed whether she might return for a second season of ‘The Penguin.’ She shared an update on the HBO show and also reflected on the success of Season 1, where her performance as Sofia Falcone earned her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress – one of many awards the show received at the 2025 Emmys.

What was Cristin Milioti’s The Penguin Season 2 update?

In an interview with Deadline, Cristin Milioti said there hasn’t been an official announcement about a second season of The Penguin, but she’s eager to return if given the opportunity, especially after the positive reception to her performance.

“Yeah, there’s no official word on anything,” Milioti said. “And I would love nothing more, truly.”

Topher Grace, who acted in Spider-Man 3 and is currently filming the horror movie Buddy with Miliot, expressed his surprise that Warner Bros. still hasn’t announced whether there will be a second season of the show.

Grace exclaimed, “Seriously, who’s making the decisions here? This show is incredible – the best thing I’ve ever watched on TV! It absolutely needs another season.”

I was really excited when I heard rumors that Alyssa Milioti might be in The Batman: Part II, but she’s now confirmed she’s definitely not involved, and honestly, that’s a bit of a disappointment!

Although Season 2 hasn’t been confirmed yet, Colin Farrell will reprise his role as Oz Cobb/The Penguin in the next Batman movie directed by Matt Reeves. That sequel is scheduled to be released on October 1, 2027, and Farrell has already read the script written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin for the film starring Robert Pattinson.

Farrell explained he had a lot to tell Matt about the script, calling it a modern masterpiece. He praised its brilliance and highlighted the compelling journey the script creates for both the character Robert and the audience.

The first season featured a talented cast including Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Zegen, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and many others. Lauren LeFranc wrote and oversaw the series as showrunner, with Keanu Reeves also credited as an executive producer. Since it premiered, the show has consistently received positive reviews, earning and maintaining a ‘Certified Fresh’ rating of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes based on over 210 reviews.
