The Penguin boss gives exciting update on show’s future
As a seasoned gamer and avid fan of the Batman universe, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of more episodes of The Penguin gracing our screens! With Matt Reeves at the helm and Colin Farrell’s captivating portrayal of Oswald Cobblepot, this series has already proven to be a masterpiece.
Fans of Batman could potentially enjoy additional installments of “The Penguin,” as suggested by the series’ executive producer, Matt Reeves.
As the gamer taking control of the virtual world, I guided “The Batman” in 2022, where Colin Farrell brought Oz Cobb to life for the first time. Working alongside creator and showrunner Lauren LeFranc, I oversaw the scriptwriting process. Initially marketed as a miniseries, it looks like “The Penguin” might make a comeback for another season, delving even further into the dark corners of Gotham City’s criminal underworld.
As a gamer, I can’t help but share some exciting news – I’ve been chatting with Lauren LeFranc about the possibility of another season! That previous journey we took together was truly unique and I feel incredibly lucky to have been part of it.
He said, “I didn’t create these characters; they exist independently. It’s about finding a way to portray them that reflects your own unique perspective.
It remains unclear if season 2 of “The Penguin” will materialize any time soon, but its numerous award nominations, such as three Golden Globe mentions, definitely suggest that the series is highly regarded.
In addition to Farrell, the talented cast includes Cristin Milioti (known for her role in How I Met Your Mother) as Sofia Falcone, along with Rhenzy Feliz, Mark Strong, Michael Kelly, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, and Carmen Ejogo, to name a few distinguished actors.
In a conversation about the show from last month, Reeves shared his thoughts on why the character portrayed by Robert Pattinson as Batman, didn’t step in during the struggle for power in Gotham City.
Reeves stated during his conversation with Digital Spy that the city was going through extremely troubled times, specifically a week following a significant event. The majority of the city is in dire straits, making it difficult for the police to maintain order as crime is rampant and the situation is extremely perilous.

If The Penguin appears again in chapter two, it seems that Batman will undoubtedly play a role. Towards the end of the series in November, there was a hint from Bruce Wayne – he cheekily left the iconic Bat Signal shining brightly over Gotham City’s skyline in the closing scenes.
The Penguin airs on Max in the US, and NOW and Sky Atlantic in the UK.
