The other young Red Bull driver who could move to Formula 1 in 2025

As a seasoned F1 enthusiast with a penchant for spotting promising talents, I must admit, Isack Hadjar has caught my eye this year. His meteoric rise in Formula 2, especially considering his relative lack of experience compared to other drivers, is nothing short of remarkable.

It’s possible that the current doubt at Red Bull might lead to swapping out two of their four drivers after this racing season. Liam Lawson seems poised to step into one of those positions next year, with a chance of taking over from either Sergio Perez or Daniel Ricciardo at Red Bull, or potentially joining RB.

Another less frequently mentioned name is Isack Hadjar. He became a part of the Red Bull Junior Team last year (2022) and is currently dominating the Formula 2 driver championship for Campos Racing. Red Bull boasts several promising junior drivers, and it seems that Hadjar has secured his position as the one to watch next in line.

As a seasoned racing enthusiast who has followed Formula 2 for years, I am truly impressed by the progress of this young French-Algerian driver in his second season. Having watched numerous drivers come and go, it is rare to see such a significant leap forward in just one year.

Just as summer was approaching, Hadjar concluded triumphantly by claiming first place in the main event at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Impressed by his performance, Christian Horner and Max Verstappen, both from Formula 1, commend the rising talent in Formula 2 and foresee a promising future for him within their ranks.

Under the present situation with Red Bull, Hadjar’s advancement to Formula 1 in 2025 is largely dependent on Daniel Ricciardo being let go by Red Bull completely. If Ricciardo takes his place at Red Bull instead of Sergio Perez, then Lawson might partner Yuki Tsunoda at RB in 2025. In this scenario, Hadjar would likely serve as a reserve driver for Red Bull rather than a full-time driver for the team.

If not, Lawson could instead replace Perez, and Hadjar could then replace Ricciardo.

Discussions have arisen regarding Hadjar’s potential in Formula 1. Unlike many other successful racers, his karting and racing background doesn’t follow the usual path that led others to the top.

Generally, most drivers boast several championship titles from various go-kart and auto races. However, Hadjar doesn’t have any championship wins to his credit. His highest achievement so far is a second-place finish in a karting event back in 2016, prior to him entering his teenage years.

Could it be that Hadjar is reaching his prime, as his initial title might be just around the corner, and it could be in a series just beneath Formula 1. It’s sure to be thrilling to observe where he lands next year given the wealth of talent Red Bull boasts.
