The Only Way Is Essex viewers are in for a treat as ‘ITV plans a huge schedule shake-up’ following the closing of ITVBe
Viewers of The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) can look forward to some exciting changes, as ITV has announced a significant revamp in their broadcasting schedule following the closure of ITVBe.
After being initially aired on ITV2 back in 2010, the enduring series is set to make its comeback on that same channel.
According to The Sun, it is expected that the move will take place in autumn 2025. Fans can look forward to watching two episodes per week following this transition.
TOWIE will air as usual on Sunday but it will also be added to a new midweek slot.
The revised schedule retains a format similar to its initial broadcasting rhythm, prior to the reduction of its airtime in 2018.

According to a source, ITV plans to create a significant impact by bringing the show back to its initial broadcasting channel, ITV2, following the shutdown of ITVBe.

According to a source, it is among their premier programs, and it continues to be one of the most popular on ITVX, having garnered a staggering 66 million views in just the past year.
It’s proposed by leaders that the program should start broadcasting two times per week again, as it originally did during its most popular period.
Moreover, it seems that the team behind the move is satisfied with their decision, as the cast appears to be ‘excited’ or ‘enthused’ about the change.
This year, it was made known that ITV plans to close one of its main channels following an eleven-year run. As a result, reality television programming is expected to undergo significant changes in their scheduling.
Instead, the popular series “The Real Housewives of Cheshire” and the entire “Real Housewives” franchise are planning to leave their current home on ITVBe, a channel that made its debut in 2014.
Instead, these shows will be broadcast on ITV2, a channel expected to take over as the hub for reality television, after ITVBe shuts down in June 2025.
ITV2 presents a lineup of enhanced shows including Olivia Attwood: The Price of Perfection, Family Guy, and G’Wed (Gogglebox Wednesday).
(The word ‘amongst’ is replaced with ‘includes’, and the phrase ‘supercharged offering’ is rephrased as ‘lineup of enhanced shows’ for a more natural and easy to read sentence.)
As per ITV’s announcement, Love Island is set to air again during the summer season, followed by Big Brother in the fall.

The shift of The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) coincides with the program’s 15th anniversary, and interestingly, it was the network’s home for the initial twelve seasons.
This year, ITV2 has solidified its position as the “most viewed digital channel among 16-34-year-olds in the UK,” according to claims made by the broadcasting company.
Love Island and its spin-offs have garnered a staggering 2.2 billion views, whereas all variants of Big Brother have collectively been viewed over 100 million times since the year 2023.
Additional shows are also scheduled to debut on the channel, among them is “Sam & Billie: Sister Act” starring the real-life sisters Sam Faiers and Billie Shepherd.
The retirement of ITVBe will see the channel transformed into ITV Quiz instead.
On ITV1, the premiere of Celebrity Big Brother attracted the largest viewership among 16-34 year-olds during that particular evening, surpassing the total number of viewers on all four competing channels.
However, it did attract the lowest launch show ratings in the show’s history

Last night’s viewing data revealed a peak audience of 2.1 million people, while the entire show averaged around 1.8 million viewers.
Last year’s peak viewership of 3.2 million was surpassed when the show came back with its latest celebrity edition in 2018, and this time it drew fewer viewers.
On April 7, the well-known reality show started a fresh season, bringing in celebrities like Mickey Rourke and Jojo Siwa, alongside other famous figures such as Trisha Goddard and Chesney Hawkes, into the renowned residence.
Although the figure decreased compared to last year, enthusiasts are pointing out a crucial problem with these numbers by turning to X.
It was observed that Celebrity Big Brother usually attracts a younger demographic, and it’s probable that quite a few of them tuned in to the premiere on ITVX.
This year, the CBB (Central Broadcasting Bureau) launch was additionally broadcast live on YouTube. Neither of these viewership numbers would’ve been factored into the initial ratings calculations.
