The Odyssey TV Spot Reveals First Look at New Role Played by Famous Musician

I was totally shocked when I saw Travis Scott pop up in the new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey! It was such an unexpected cameo, and I’m really curious to see what his role will be.

What is shown in the new The Odyssey video?

Universal Pictures debuted a new trailer for its upcoming film, The Odyssey, during the AFC championship game on Sunday, which featured the New England Patriots playing against the Denver Broncos.

In a one-minute video clip, Telemachus (Holland) questions Menelaus (Jon Bernthal) about his father, Odysseus, who is portrayed by Matt Damon. Meanwhile, a character played by Scott delivers a speech about the Odysseus legend while standing on a table in the mess hall.

“It all started with a war, a clever plan, and one man,” Scott’s character explains. “A trick that brought the walls of Troy crashing down.” The scene then shifts to show Odysseus and his soldiers secretly entering the city of Troy hidden inside the massive Trojan horse.

“Let’s go home,” Odysseus says at the end of the footage.

Having worked with Christopher Nolan before – I remember really digging his track ‘The Plan’ for Tenet – it’s exciting to see Kid Cudi really stepping into the acting world. The Odyssey is by far his biggest role yet, and while he did appear in Harmony Korine’s wild Aggro Dr1ft, this feels like a whole new level for him. I’m definitely curious to see what he brings to the screen!

The Odyssey tells the story of Odysseus’ difficult trip back home after the Trojan War, inspired by Homer’s classic poem. During his travels, he faces encounters with legendary creatures like sirens and a cyclops.

The cast of The Odyssey includes Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Robert Pattinson as Antinous, Zendaya as Athena, Benny Safdie as Agamemnon, John Leguizamo as Eumaeus, Himesh Patel as Eurylochus, Mia Goth as Melantho, Charlize Theron as Circe, and Lupita Nyong’o in a currently secret role.

I’m incredibly excited about Nolan’s new film, The Odyssey – it’s his first project after the massive success of Oppenheimer. He’s writing and directing it, of course, and he’s producing with his wife, Emma Thomas, who he always works with. It’s great to see he’s brought back Hoyte van Hoytema as the cinematographer and Ludwig Göransson to compose the score; they’re both fantastic and have collaborated with him on so many of his best films.

Universal will release The Odyssey in theaters and in IMAX on July 17, 2026.
