Anne Hathaway clearly gave a dedicated performance while filming The Odyssey. Since the trailer was released in December, the movie—a new adaptation of Homer’s classic—has become one of the most eagerly awaited blockbusters of the summer of 2026. The film boasts a stellar cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, and Hathaway.
In a recent interview with Variety, Logan Marshall-Green described his experience filming The Odyssey. He explained that working with Christopher Nolan means constant activity – you’re always working, and always aware of your surroundings, especially the ocean! He said it was the best possible experience, surrounded by incredibly talented people in every department, all led by Nolan’s tireless work ethic. Marshall-Green also praised Anne Hathaway, highlighting her dedication to the film.
I learned by watching how actors like Anne worked with him. Anne would completely immerse herself in her role, sometimes not even appearing on camera for three days while filming a single scene. This level of dedication starts with Chris and his own high standards, which he expects from everyone. I really admired his approach and would gladly work that way again.

Christopher Nolan is a highly respected director known for his dedication. A story circulated in 2020, attributed to Anne Hathaway, claiming he doesn’t allow chairs on set, but his team says this isn’t true. They clarified that he doesn’t use director’s chairs near the monitoring area, and that he only prohibits cell phone use (though not always with complete success) and smoking, which he’s been very effective at stopping. Despite his demanding approach, many actors appreciate working with him and often appear in multiple films he’s made.
With The Odyssey, Anne Hathaway teams up with director Christopher Nolan for the third time, following their work together twelve years ago. She first appeared in his film The Dark Knight Rises as Selina Kyle, also known as Catwoman, and later starred as Dr. Amelia Brand in Interstellar. In The Odyssey, Hathaway portrays Penelope, the wife of Odysseus, who is fending off unwanted advances from potential husbands while Odysseus is absent.
Anne Hathaway has a busy 2026 ahead with five new films scheduled for release. First, she’ll star in the psychological thriller Mother Mary from A24, hitting theaters on April 17th. Then, on May 1st, she’ll return as Andrea Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada 2, kicking off the summer movie season. Following that, The Odyssey will be released on July 17th. In August, on the 17th, audiences can see her in the sci-fi film The End of Oak Street (formerly Flowervale Street), alongside Ewan McGregor. Finally, on October 2nd, she’ll appear in Verity, based on the popular novel by Colleen Hoover.
