The Nike Air Max Plus Golf “U.S. Open” Is Forged for Victory

Summary

  • The Nike Air Max Plus G is themed to the upcoming U.S. Open in Pittsburgh
  • Design incorporates metallic silver and anvils as a nod to the Steel City
  • No release date has been shared at this time

The PGA Championship has concluded, but the U.S. Open is quickly approaching, and Nike has readied a special edition colorway for the Air Max Plus G silhouette to celebrate the tournament’s return to Oakmont Country Club, near Pittsburgh. This sneaker features metallic silver along with bold pops of pink, yellow, and orange, symbolizing Pittsburgh’s rich history in steel production.

Besides its multiple uses and finishes, the Air Max Plus G “U.S. Open” embodies the spirit of Steel City, featuring an etching of “Nike Forged” on the rear and corresponding anvil symbols with the phrase “Forged For Victory” on both the tongue and insole. The yellow accents, however, seem to pay tribute to the Steelers’ iconic color scheme. Notably, the Air Max Plus G will be joined by the more golf-oriented Victory Tour 4 and Infinity Tour 2 in a coordinating color scheme, similar to Nike’s PGA Championship pack.

As I’m typing this, there isn’t a specific release date announced yet, but it looks like we can expect it around early June.
