Rob and Michelle Reiner, believed to have been stabbed, were found dead on December 14th. Authorities initially didn’t release their names. Reports indicate the couple had dinner with their friend Maria Shriver the Friday before the incident. The day before, Rob and Nick reportedly had a heated argument at a party hosted by Conan O’Brien, which led Rob and Michele to leave the party.
Nick Reiner, 32, has a history of mental health and addiction challenges. On December 14th, he left his parents’ home and checked into a hotel, where staff discovered a large amount of blood in his room. He was then arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder – Rob had mentioned him shortly before his death. Reiner is currently being held in Los Angeles’ Twin Towers Correctional Facility without the possibility of bail.
Jake and Romy Reiner have released a statement thanking everyone for their kind thoughts and tributes following the loss of Rob and Michele. Jake mentioned they are planning a public memorial, but they’ve also asked for privacy as they grieve.
