After ten years, the popular series The Night Manager is returning to television with a brand new season. This season’s story goes beyond the original book by John le Carré, and it’s one of the most eagerly awaited shows of the year.
In the next season of the spy thriller, Jonathan Pine is trying to live a peaceful life under an assumed identity, Alex Goodwin. However, his calm is shattered when an old enemy pulls him into a dangerous investigation involving a mysterious businessman in Colombia.
After its debut on Thursday, the series continues tonight on BBC One. You’ll recognize some of the actors, but there are also some new ones – want to know who plays each character? We’ve got a complete guide!
What to Read Next
Tom Hiddleston as Jonathan Pine

Jonathan Pine is an MI6 agent working undercover as Alex Goodwin. While monitoring activity in London, he recognizes someone from his past, which leads him into a dangerous situation.
Besides his popular role in The Night Manager, Tom Hiddleston is well-known for playing Loki in many Marvel films and series. He’s built a strong acting career overall.
Beyond his work as a superhero, Tom Hiddleston has collaborated with renowned directors like Steven Spielberg and Guillermo del Toro on the films War Horse and Crimson Peak. He also received praise for his performance in The Life of Chuck last year.
Olivia Colman as Angela Burr

Angela Burr is a former head of intelligence at the Foreign Office, played by Olivia Colman. After leaving active duty following the events of the first season, viewers are left wondering how her story will intersect with Jonathan’s in the new season.
Olivia Colman has been very successful lately. She gained international recognition and won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2019 for her role in The Favourite. But what other films and TV shows has she appeared in?
Olivia Colman has starred in both popular films like Wonka, Paddington in Peru, and The Roses, as well as acclaimed TV series including The Crown, Broadchurch, and Fleabag.
Diego Calva as Teddy Dos Santos

Teddy Dos Santos is a Colombian businessman who quickly catches Jonathan’s attention. He’s a powerful and dangerous figure involved in arms dealing and commands a guerrilla army, making him someone you don’t want to cross.
Diego Calva is a Mexican actor who recently gained recognition for his role as Arturo Beltrán Leyva in the Netflix series Narcos: Mexico. He’s also been in the films Babylon and On Swift Horses.
Camila Morrone as Roxana Bolaños

Roxana Bolaños is a new character introduced in the series. She’s a businesswoman who ends up assisting Jonathan with a dangerous mission to take down Teddy, though her motives and trustworthiness are questionable.
Besides her well-known roles, Camila Morrone played Camila Alvarez-Dunne in the Prime Video series Daisy Jones & the Six. She’s also set to be in the upcoming Netflix series based on The Age of Innocence.
Indira Varma as Mayra Cavendish

Mayra Cavendish is a new character introduced in the second season. She leads the Secret Intelligence Service and acts as Jonathan’s main point of contact and supervisor for his work in Colombia.
Okay, so you might recognize Indira Varma! She’s been in a few movies like Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning and Official Secrets, but honestly, she’s a TV star to me. I definitely know her from Game of Thrones and Doctor Who – she was awesome in both!
Hayley Squires as Sally Price-Jones

Sally Price-Jones is an MI6 officer who joins the ‘Night Owls,’ a team of agents led by Jonathan. The team primarily handles routine surveillance operations.
I was really impressed with Hayley Squires in I, Daniel Blake – that performance was amazing! I’ve since found out she’s been in a bunch of other cool stuff too, like Blitz, The Essex Serpent, and The Electrical Life of Louis Wain. Definitely keeping an eye out for her in future projects.
Paul Chahidi as Basil Karapetian

Basil Karapetian is a new character introduced in the second season, working as a high-ranking official in British intelligence. He joins other new characters like Sally, Roxana, Teddy, and Mayra.
Paul Chahidi is primarily a stage actor, but he’s also appeared in several TV shows, including Good Omens, The Serpent Queen, and Ludwig.
Noah Jupe as Danny Roper

Danny Roper is the son of Richard Roper, an arms dealer portrayed by Hugh Laurie in the first season of the show. In the new season, actor Tom Hollander, who plays Jupe, has a much larger role as Danny.
Noah Jupe is a rising star with memorable roles in films like Honey Boy and Ford v Ferrari. He’s best known for playing Marcus Abbott in the Quiet Place movies, and he’s also appeared in the TV series The Undoing.
Alistair Petrie as Alexander ‘Sandy’ Langbourne

Alexander ‘Sandy’ Langbourne was a key ally and financial director for Richard in the first season. Now that he’s back for season two, viewers are wondering what his story will be this time around.
Alistair Petrie is known for his roles in several popular projects. He’s appeared in sci-fi films like Cloud Atlas and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. On television, he played Mr. Groff in Sex Education and recently starred in Death by Lightning.
Douglas Hodge as Rex Mayhew

Rex Mayhew is a key character in the Whitehall organization. He initially helped Angela during the first season, and later became important to Jonathan’s work in the second season.
Douglas Hodge is known for a diverse range of roles. He played Alfred Pennyworth in the film Joker, and has recently appeared in We Live in Time and Pillion. He’s also been on television in shows like Catastrophe and The Great.
Michael Nardone as Frisky

Frisky is a loyal follower of Richard and willing to do whatever it takes to help him. He has a troubled past, so Jonathan would be wise to avoid him for the time being.
Michael Nardone is primarily a stage actor, but he’s also appeared in popular TV shows like Line of Duty, Merlin, and Shetland.
The Night Manager airs on BBC One, and streams on both BBC iPlayer and Prime Video.
The latest issue of Living Legends is out now, and it’s dedicated to the incredible Dolly Parton! You can find “Dolly at 80” at newsagents and online for only £8.99.
