The next Avatar movie gets a subtitle: Fire and Ash
As a die-hard fan with a memory that could rival Eywa herself, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon hearing the title of the next Avatar installment: “Avatar: Fire and Ash”. Having grown up with the original film and eagerly awaiting each sequel since then, I find myself in a state of pure, unadulterated anticipation.
As a passionate fan, I can’t help but marvel at the extraordinary success of James Cameron’s masterpiece, “Avatar,” released in 2009, which takes us on an epic journey to the moon of Pandora populated by blue aliens. With a staggering box office earnings nearing $3 billion, it holds the title as the highest-grossing film of all time. Its sequel, “The Way of Water,” released in 2022, has also made waves, earning an impressive $2.3 billion. It’s no secret that Disney is eager to continue this profitable venture, with three more sequels on the horizon. The next installment, titled “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” is set for release in 2025. I, for one, can hardly wait!
At the recent #D23 event, we’ve unveiled the title for our upcoming Avatar movie: “Avatar: Fire and Ash.” Mark your calendars for a return trip to Pandora, hitting theaters on December 19, 2025.

Over the weekend at D23, Disney’s annual self-celebration, I got a sneak peek at an upcoming title from James Cameron. Although no gameplay footage was shown, attendees were treated to some concept art that left me excited for what’s coming! Neytiri (Saldaña) was seen riding a banshee, along with gigantic airships and a glimpse of the Ash People – an alien tribe among the Na’vi who seem to be more warlike than their peaceful counterparts. Oona Chaplin, known for her role as Robb Stark’s wife Talisa in Game of Thrones, will bring the Ash People’s leader, Varang, to life. Additionally, Harry Potter veteran David Thewlis and Everything Everywhere All At Once star Michelle Yeoh are joining the cast. According to James Cameron, there are new characters in store, one of which I think fans might either love or loathe – could it be any of them?
In addition to Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Britain Dalton, Jack Champion, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Bailey Bass, Joel David Moore, Edie Falco, and Dileep Rao, the movie will bring back familiar faces. As per Variety, James Cameron stated that viewers can expect to see much more of Pandora than they have before. He describes it as an exhilarating journey with stunning visuals, but also with emotional depth greater than ever before. The story delves into challenging situations for characters we care about deeply.
As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but get excited about the rumors swirling around! Disney is reportedly planning to create an ‘Avatar’-themed area within their Disneyland theme park – and as a fan of those groundbreaking movies, I can’t wait to explore this new world! The first two ‘Avatar’ films are not only visually stunning but also hold the records for the first and third highest-grossing movies ever made. With Disney acquiring 20th Century Fox back in 2019, it was only a matter of time before they took advantage of the Avatar franchise to expand their theme park offerings. So, buckle up fellow gamers, because we’re in for an incredible journey into Pandora!
Avatar: Fire and Ash is due out in theaters on December 19, 2025.
