The new life of Nagi’s nemesis: As Brooke Bellamy is seen for the first time with newborn daughter – we reveal she’s not finished yet after RecipeTin Eats plagiarism scandal turned her life upside down

Celebrity baker Brooke Bellamy was seen with her newborn daughter, Colette, for the first time since welcoming her last month.

The popular cookie business owner, who faced accusations of copying recipes from Nagi Maehashi of RecipeTin Eats earlier this year, seemed unbothered by the controversy while enjoying a day at the park in Brisbane on Monday.

With her husband Justice and their daughter Brooke by her side, she happily carried baby Colette in a sling, clearly enjoying a peaceful family moment.

Oh my gosh, Brooke just had the cutest day! She opened her new bakery, Brooki Bakehouse in Brisbane, and also welcomed her little Colette into the world – talk about a whirlwind! She looked so comfy and effortlessly chic, wearing a simple maroon shirt, jeans, and these adorable brown clogs. Seriously, she’s perfect!

She completed her look with a gold pendant shaped like a ‘B’ and simple stud earrings. Her signature red hair was styled in a relaxed braid.

Her husband was wearing clothes from Brooki Bakehouse – a branded cap and white T-shirt – as he pushed their oldest daughter in the stroller.

While out together, Justice was pushing his oldest daughter on the swing, and Brooke watched with affection.

Brooke recently returned to work at one of her bakeries just one month after having a baby, signaling a positive turn for her career following a public disagreement with Nagi.

The entrepreneur, wearing a chef’s jacket, black pants, and brown clogs, arrived at the venue in a black car and confidently walked to the entrance.

She completed her outfit with a black tote bag and styled her hair in a neat low bun, securing it with a beige scrunchie.

In April, Nagi Maehashi, the creator of RecipeTin Eats, publicly accused Brooke of copying her recipes for caramel slice and baklava and including them in her popular cookbook, Bake with Brooki.

The accusations led to weeks of online criticism, and Brooke, who was pregnant then, had to repeatedly defend her work with public statements.

Brooke shared in a video that while her recipes weren’t entirely her own creation – very few recipes are – they still felt special and reflected her personal touch.

She explained that although these recipes are special to her, she didn’t create them from scratch. They’re all based on ideas and recipes she found from others.

She also revealed her biggest inspiration had always been close to home.

I’ve always loved bakeries and bakers, but my biggest inspiration is definitely my mum. I learned to cook and bake alongside her when I was growing up, and those experiences mean the world to me.

Brooke denied claims that she copied someone else’s work, explaining that recipes often have common ingredients and methods.

She explained that although baking allows for some personal expression, it’s largely a precise process that relies on following recipes carefully.

‘Many recipes are bound to share common steps and measures: if they don’t, they simply don’t work.’

Maehashi is not the only baker to have levelled plagiarism claims against Bellamy.

Shortly after Maehashi shared her accusations, Sally McKenny, a baker and author from the United States, stated that her vanilla cake recipe had also been stolen and used in the cookbook and on Bellamy’s YouTube channel.

McKenny emphasized that the people who originally create and thoroughly test recipes should be acknowledged, particularly when those recipes appear in a popular cookbook.
