The most-viewed League of Legends esports matches of 2025

These are the ten most popular League of Legends esports matches from 2025, and unsurprisingly, T1 appears in most of them.

2025 was a landmark year for competitive League of Legends. T1 made history by becoming the first team to win the World Championship three times in a row. The year also featured surprising games and unexpected victories. Here’s a look at the most popular League of Legends Esports matches from 2025.

T1 dominates most-watched LoL Esports matches of 2025

As expected, T1, the three-time world champions, was the most popular League of Legends team to watch in 2025. Esports Charts reported they accumulated over 195.4 million hours of viewership throughout the year, a slight increase of just 0.4% compared to 2024.

As a huge fan, it’s amazing to see just how dominant T1 has been! They were featured in eight of the ten most-watched matches all year. And get this – during Worlds 2025, people watched T1 for almost 65 million hours! That’s nearly half – 47%, to be exact – of all the viewership for the entire event. Seriously impressive!

The list shows three matches between T1 and Gen.G Esports: two from MSI 2025 and one from the LCK 2025 Season. It’s disappointing that we won’t get to see this exciting rivalry play out at Worlds.

A recent graphic from Esports Charts highlights the LoL Esports matches that drew the biggest audiences in 2025, measured by peak viewership. This metric focuses on the highest number of people watching at any one moment during a match, rather than the total number of viewers overall.

10. T1 vs Gen.G Esports (LCK 2025 Season Playoffs)

As a fan, it’s pretty cool to see a domestic rivalry make it all the way to the top ten! T1 and Gen.G have faced off a bunch of times this year, both here in Korea and at international tournaments. But honestly, everyone was really focused on their match in the Lower Bracket Round 3 of the LCK 2025 Season Playoffs – it was a big one!

Both teams had already earned their spots at the World Championship. However, T1’s close 2-3 defeat against Gen.G Esports forced them to compete in the Play-In stage, facing off against Invictus Gaming, the fourth-seeded team from the LPL. This ultimately meant the eventual champions had a more challenging path to the main event.

9. Hanwha Life Esports vs. Gen.G Esports (Worlds 2025 Quarterfinals)

This match was the only quarterfinal at Worlds 2025 where one team completely eliminated another, and it featured two of the strongest contenders in the tournament.

Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon of Gen.G had another opportunity to demonstrate his skill, while Choi “Zeus” Woo-je of T1 was hoping to achieve greater success.

Gen.G would go on to win this match, 3-1, but fell to KT Rolster in the semis.

8. T1 vs. Invictus Gaming (Worlds 2025 Play-Ins)

T1 and Invictus Gaming, both well-known teams, battled for the last qualifying position for the World Championship during the Play-Ins stage. T1 represented the LCK as its fourth seed, while Invictus Gaming was the LPL’s fourth seed.

It’s no surprise so many people tuned in to watch the match, with a star player like Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok playing for Invictus Gaming, and T1 also competing.

T1’s victory against IG was the first stone they placed on their way to the three-peat.

7. T1 vs Gen.G Esports (MSI 2025 Upper Bracket Final)

T1 and Gen.G faced off in the final match of the upper bracket at MSI 2025. Both teams had recently won their previous games – T1 had just defeated BLG in a clean sweep, and Gen.G had won against AL.

The match was closely contested, but Gen.G ultimately won 3-2 and secured a spot in the grand final.

6. T1 vs Anyone’s Legend (MSI 2025 Lower Bracket Final)

Following their defeat against Gen.G in the upper bracket final, T1 played against Anyone’s Legend with a chance to reach the grand final.

The match attracted almost the same number of viewers as the T1 versus Gen.G Upper Bracket Final, differing by just 1%.

T1 went down 1-2 against the LPL’s top seed, but they brought it back in the end to win 3-2.

5. KT Rolster vs. Gen.G Esports (Worlds 2025 Semifinal)

This is the only one of two games on the list where T1 wasn’t involved, and it was a well-deserved win.

The mid lane matchup between Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong and Chovy was highly anticipated. Both players are incredibly skilled, but neither had ever won the World Championship. As they battled for a spot in the grand final and a chance to defeat T1, all the attention was focused on their rivalry.

Chovy’s fans were disappointed, but KT fans were thrilled! KT defeated Gen.G Esports 3-1, earning their spot in the grand final.

4. T1 vs. Gen.G Esports (MSI 2025 Grand Final)

The top two teams from the LCK faced off again in the final match of MSI 2025. Despite playing just three days after their previous encounter in the same tournament, the match attracted over 28% more viewers.

Viewers enjoyed five additional League of Legends matches between the teams, but ultimately Gen.G Esports won the championship.

3. T1 vs. Top Esports (Worlds 2025 Semifinal)

Everyone was totally on the edge of their seats! We were all wondering if T1 could pull off an amazing three-peat, or if the last LPL team still in the running would manage to take them down.

T1 won convincingly with a 3-0 sweep, but Top Esports fans were frustrated by their team’s poor showing against the future world champions. Top Esports ended up as another win for T1, a team known for defeating strong opponents.

2. T1 vs Anyone’s Legend (Worlds 2025 Quarterfinal)

Viewership increased when the Worlds 2025 playoffs started. The match between T1 and Anyone’s Legend was the final quarterfinal, and fans who were excited to see how T1 would perform in the playoffs finally got to watch them play.

By now, Anyone’s Legend was clearly the team to beat. They dominated the Swiss Stage with a perfect 3-0 record, defeating Gen.G, HLE, and CFO. T1, however, had a more difficult time, losing matches to both CFO and Gen.G.

Some people may have been watching only to see T1 lose, but they were disappointed when T1 won against AL with a final score of 3-2.

1. T1 vs KT Rolster (Worlds 2025 Grand Final)

The esports community was captivated as T1 tried to win three championships in a row. It felt like the whole world was watching, even those who bet on esports, to see if they could pull it off.

Esports Charts reported that Worlds 2025 reached a peak of 6.75 million viewers, making it the most-watched esports event of the year. This was nearly twice the viewership of the second most popular event, MPL Indonesia Season 10.

The thrilling five-game final of the League of Legends world championship was the most-watched match of 2025. It marked a historic third consecutive championship – and sixth overall – for the winning team, with player Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyung earning the MVP award.
