In her own words, Katee Sackhoff, the star of “The Mandalorian,” revealed that portraying Bo-Katan Kryze caused a dip in her self-assuredness.
In 2012, the actor known for Battlestar Galactica made his debut as the character in an animated format, specifically on Star Wars: The Clone Wars series. Subsequently, he portrayed the role in a live-action setting as well.
In conversation with her Battlestar Galactica colleague Tahmoh Penikett, she shared that following the completion of filming for the third season (in 2022), she encountered a period where she didn’t secure any live-action roles for several years.

Over the past several years, she launched her podcast titled “_The Sackhoff Show_,” a platform that served as her venue for making her confession.
“I lost all of my confidence after Mandalorian,” she said, “all of it.”

She shared that she strives to maintain a sense of detachment and stay connected to herself when acting, but emphasized: “Bo-Katan is significantly distinct from who I am as a person. Her desires, what she represents – I couldn’t comprehend them… I never felt a connection with her. I didn’t know how to portray her effectively.
My approach to acting has consistently been about following my initial gut feeling, as it tends to be correct. I stick to portraying the raw truth of the given scenario, and I rarely delve into creating characters in the traditional sense.
As a gamer, I’d rephrase that as: “Man, it really got me down. That setback left me questioning everything about my gaming skills. I mean, I’m not exactly the most dominant player on tape, and here I was recording myself over and over again. No wins, no progress for three long years. It just smashed my self-confidence to bits.

After finding a new representative who boosted her self-assurance, Sackhoff went on to secure roles in shows like ‘Law & Order’ and ‘Carrie’.
Currently, The Mandalorian is progressing with the film titled The Mandalorian and Grogu, however, at present, there has been no confirmation regarding Katee Sackhoff’s involvement in the production.
The first three seasons of The Mandalorian are currently available for streaming on Disney+, and a new movie featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu is scheduled for release in 2026.
