The upcoming movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu, will feature the return of Embo, a bounty hunter from The Clone Wars. This will be the first Star Wars film released in theaters in seven years. While details are scarce, the story will follow Din Djarin and Grogu as they work with the New Republic against Imperial warlords who are disrupting the peace. Previously, it was announced that Moff Gideon, played by Giancarlo Esposito, wouldn’t be the main villain in this film, and now we know Embo will be taking on that role.
Lucasfilm has revealed the first glimpse of the character Embo in the upcoming film, The Mandalorian & Grogu, officially confirming earlier rumors about his appearance in the 2026 movie.

Last year, Kristian Harloff shared that Embo will be a key villain in the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu movie. According to Harloff, Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, will be hired to save Jeremy Allen White’s character, Rotta the Hutt. This happens after Din Djarin is initially tasked with killing Rotta by a pair of Hutts.
Embo seems to be targeting more than just Rotta, as the trailer showed him heading towards a building that looks a lot like Din Djarin’s place on Nevarro.

Embo, a mostly silent character who speaks the Kyuzo language, has his few lines of dialogue voiced by Dave Filoni. Filoni was recently made President of Lucasfilm and will be returning to voice the character in The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Dave Filoni, who also co-wrote the screenplay and is an executive producer, will appear in The Mandalorian & Grogu alongside stars Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White, and Steve Blum. The movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 26th.
Who Is Mandalorian & Grogu’s Embo?

Embo was a highly skilled bounty hunter during the Clone Wars, considered one of the best alongside figures like Cad Bane. He was a powerful and ruthless fighter, able to challenge even Jedi and Sith, and he famously used a bowcaster along with a distinctive shield hat.
Embo first appeared in Season 2, Episode 17 of The Clone Wars, titled “Bounty Hunters.” In this episode, Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano crash-land on the planet Felucia and team up with a group of bounty hunters to defend local farmers from the pirates led by Hondo Ohnaka.
Interestingly, Embo’s story in Star Wars nearly ended much earlier. Dave Filoni revealed that the original script called for his death, but the team decided to change it to an injury because they all enjoyed the character so much.
Throughout his career, Embo has worked for a variety of powerful clients, including Asajj Ventress, Darth Sidious, and the Hutt Grand Council. He’s even proven himself in battle against formidable opponents like Savage Opress and Anakin Skywalker, managing to both survive and escape capture.
