The Mandalorian: 5 predictions about the Mythosaur's future

As a dedicated fan who has spent countless hours immersed in the Star Wars universe, I must say that The Mandalorian Season 3 did not disappoint when it comes to keeping us on our toes. The introduction of the elusive Mythosaur is just another testament to the show’s knack for creating intrigue and anticipation.

In Season 3 of The Mandalorian, there were some flaws, yet it managed to offer an intriguing peek at a creature hinted at since the very first episode – the enigmatic Mythosaur.

In Chapter 1 of “The Mandalorian,” Din Djarin could only ride a blurrg after Kuiil shared stories about Mandalorians riding the Great Mythosaur. This reminder sparked Din’s curiosity, leading him to give the blurrg another chance and eventually tame it. The uplifting music and Kuiil’s inspiring words hinted at the possible return of the Mythosaur, implying that Din might be involved in this future event.

Moving on to Season 3, we discover that the Mythosaur had been slumbering beneath the Mines of Mandalore. Bo-Katan Kryze stumbled upon it when she dived into the water to rescue an unconscious Din Djarin. As the season came to a close, Grogu appeared to sense the presence of the Mythosaur, and it seemed as though the creature was also aware of him. Although we caught glimpses of it during the series, these were merely tantalizing hints. Now, a new Topps trading card has provided fans with a detailed look at the true design of the Mythosaur.

It appears that the mythical creatures known as Mythosaurus are set to rise from the underworld of Mandalore mines, promising significant impacts on the destiny of Mandalore and its inhabitants.

Here are 5 predictions about what could be in store for the Mythosaur.

1. It will seek out the one who will lead Mandalore into a new age

As The Armorer in “The Book of Boba Fett” explains, a Mandalorian prophecy foretells the emergence of a Mythosaur to usher in a new era for Mandalore. Although Bo-Katan has seen this creature and some believe it signals her reign over the planet, the Mythosaur might not have completely realized its intended role yet. Ultimately, it will find the individual who will guide Mandalore into a fresh epoch, and that defining moment shall be one that every Mandalorian can personally behold.

2. It’s arrival will be loud and clear

Bo-Katan shared with The Armorer a deeply impactful encounter – she had unexpectedly spotted the rare Mythosaur. In response, The Armorer guarded this secret diligently. However, it’s essential that the Mythosaur isn’t hidden any longer, as its presence could serve as an inspiring symbol for the Mandalorian community. Consequently, a thrilling revelation featuring the Mythosaur is imminent, one that will leave everyone utterly astounded.

3. Mandalorians won’t be too happy with Bo-Katan and The Armorer for hiding the truth

Despite Grogu feeling the Mythosaur’s presence at the end of Season 3, Din Djarin and other Mandalorians remain unaware that one is among them. It’s likely they won’t be pleased to discover Bo and The Armorer have been hiding such a significant secret from everyone. The Mythosaur is a powerful symbol in Mandalorian culture, often considered a myth rather than reality. Given the events of Season 3, it seems only Bo and The Armorer are aware of its existence, implying that the Mandalorian people might react negatively if they learn their leader has been concealing this extraordinary creature from them.

4. Din Djarin and Grogu will tame and ride the Mythosaur

For good reason, they’re known as “A Duo Clan.” When the Mythosaur stands tall, I anticipate a reenactment of “Chapter 2: The Child” from The Mandalorian. This beast is likely at least ten times larger than a Mudhorn, but when it comes to subduing and potentially riding it, neither Din Djarin nor any other individual will be able to do it solo. Grogu will need to intervene and help soothe the creature, implying that they might collaborate and ride the Mythosaur together. This scenario ensures that Grogu, a Mandalorian Jedi, his father, an alien not born on Mandalore, will be the ones to usher in a new era of Mandalorians.

In this era, Mandalorian society will experience a renaissance, fostering tranquility, wealth, and unity. This period also promises to enhance the connection between Mandalorians and Jedi. As Din Djarin and Grogu’s bond strengthens, the Mandalorians might gain a deeper understanding and respect for the Force. There’s a possibility that they may even incorporate it into their own cultural beliefs.

5. The Mythosaur will protect Mandalore

For quite some time, the Mythosaur could have been submerged beneath the life-giving oceans. Yet, it seems likely that this ancient creature has been informed about all the trials Mandalore has faced. In case conflict returns to Mandalore and the Empire or Thrawn chooses to assault the planet, don’t be surprised if the Mythosaur takes action. Be warned, Thrawn, because Mandalorians won’t fight their battles alone. They will have a colossal dragon as an ally.

Currently, there’s no definitive timeline for when the Mythosaur might reappear, but let’s cross our fingers it appears in ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’, which is scheduled to premiere in theaters on May 22, 2026.
