The man more powerful than Trump… and how he saved Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers’ jobs, after president turned on ‘total losers’

Following the news that Jimmy Kimmel’s show was temporarily cancelled, President Trump turned his attention to Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, urging NBC to also suspend them.

He lashed out on his social media platform, Truth Social, calling two NBC News personalities ‘total losers’ shortly after the story broke Wednesday night. He also criticized the network’s ratings, urging NBC to take action.

While comedians often joke about the President, those on this show seem secure in their jobs – at least for now. This is largely thanks to Lorne Michaels, the powerful producer, whom NBC is eager to please because of his success.

According to a source who spoke with the Daily Mail, Jimmy and Seth probably won’t face career repercussions because of their strong relationship with Lorne Michaels.

Lorne Michaels, 80, is the creative force behind the popular show Saturday Night Live on NBC. He’s also been the executive producer of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers since both shows first aired in 2014.

According to a source, he continues to work on both ‘Jimmy’ and ‘Seth’s’ shows and remains a key part of ‘SNL,’ a program NBC highly values. Because NBC executives greatly respect him, they’re unlikely to cancel either late-night show while he’s involved, as doing so could cause problems.

ABC cancelled Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, just two days after Kimmel publicly criticized the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

During his show Monday night, Jimmy Kimmel claimed the person who attacked Kirk was likely a supporter of MAGA, even though investigators have indicated the attacker leaned far-left. Kimmel also suggested Republicans were attempting to use the incident to gain a political advantage.

He stated that over the weekend, supporters of Donald Trump went to great lengths to distance themselves from the individual accused of attempting to harm Charlie Kirk, and were clearly trying to exploit the situation for political gain.

I remember being struck by how different his statement felt compared to what he’d posted right after the shooting on September 10th. He’d asked, and I think a lot of us felt the same way, if we could just agree for *one* day that shooting another person is simply awful and monstrous, and put aside all the blame and arguing.

My family and I are sending our deepest sympathies to the Kirks, and to everyone – especially the children and parents – affected by the tragedy of gun violence.

On Wednesday, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr asked television and radio stations to stop broadcasting a particular show, and suggested he might investigate the harmful things said on it.

Nexstar Media Group, which operates many local ABC stations, subsequently called Kimmel’s remarks ‘offensive and insensitive’.

On Wednesday night, ABC announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! would not air for the foreseeable future, but didn’t provide any details about why.

Sources at the Daily Mail reported that Jimmy Kimmel was extremely angry and urgently met with network leaders to discuss the situation.

Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show, which began in 2003, regularly features humorous commentary on politics, particularly in its opening segments, and has often targeted Donald Trump since he rose to prominence.

As a longtime viewer, I remember when Trump seemed to win the election last year, Jimmy Kimmel was *devastated*. He basically said everything was ruined, except maybe for Putin, anyone still getting polio, and those tech billionaires like Elon Musk and their Silicon Valley buddies. He was especially harsh on the people who’d basically abandoned their principles to support Trump, calling him both ‘old’ and ‘evil.’ It was a pretty bleak moment, honestly.

In 2015, he passionately criticized Trump’s intention to eliminate Obamacare, a central promise from Trump’s initial presidential campaign. He shared this criticism while speaking emotionally about his son’s lifelong heart condition.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Trump was absolutely *thrilled* when he heard Jimmy Kimmel was getting suspended! Can you believe it? And the reaction from Hollywood? Total meltdown! All these super-woke celebrities – Jamie Lee Curtis, Ben Stiller, even Henry Winkler and Alison Brie – they all immediately rushed to defend Kimmel! It’s like, they couldn’t handle him being in trouble, they had to show their support! It’s just… amazing to watch!

Writer and actor unions stated that ABC’s decision violated their First Amendment rights, and they criticized the network for giving in to pressure from the U.S. government.

Donald Trump celebrated the cancellation of Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show, stating it was ‘great news for America.’ He congratulated ABC for what he called the ‘courage’ to make the decision, adding that Kimmel lacks talent and has lower ratings than Stephen Colbert.

It seems Jimmy and Seth, hosts on NBC, are struggling with very low ratings. President Trump is urging NBC to take action.

Fallon, 50, and Meyers, 51, are frequent critics of the president and his administration.

Last year, Donald Trump publicly criticized Seth Meyers, calling him a ‘dope’ after NBC renewed his contract through 2028. He’s also repeatedly expressed his dislike for Jimmy Fallon, who received criticism from Trump supporters following a 2016 interview where Fallon playfully messed up Trump’s hair.

And on Thursday night, Fallon ruthlessly mocked Trump as he addressed Kimmel’s suspension.

Even though these two shows have been critical of Trump, a source told us canceling them would be devastating for NBC and their streaming service, Peacock.

According to sources, if this situation comes to pass, Lorne Michaels would likely seek opportunities outside of NBC, potentially creating shows with streaming services like Netflix or Amazon. NBC, however, is hesitant to risk losing such a valuable asset.

Look, I know the President has expressed his wishes about NBC and what they should do with Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, but it seems like they’re both staying put, which is great news for a fan like me!

Jimmy Kimmel is reportedly planning to appear as a guest on Stephen Colbert’s show. Colbert, who was let go by CBS earlier this summer, will finish his run next year.

For years, Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and Jimmy Fallon have been the dominant figures in late-night television. Kimmel hosts on ABC, Colbert on CBS, and Fallon on NBC, representing the three major networks.

Jimmy Kimmel recently suggested he might not extend his current contract, which expires in 2026. He told the Los Angeles Times that having a little over two years left ‘seems pretty good’ and ‘like enough’ for him.

The Daily Mail has contacted NBC for comment.
