The Legend of Vox Machina Season 4 Will Release Earlier Than Expected (Confirmed)

The actors in The Legend of Vox Machina have announced that Season 4 is coming soon. This animated fantasy series, available on Prime Video, is based on the original Dungeons & Dragons campaign played by the cast of Critical Role. After starting with a successful crowdfunding campaign, The Legend of Vox Machina has aired three popular seasons on Prime Video and will soon release its next-to-last season.

Critical Role had been consistently releasing new seasons of The Legend of Vox Machina each year in 2023, 2023, and 2024. However, 2025 will be different, as the focus shifted to their new animated series, The Mighty Nein, which will be released on Prime Video instead. Fortunately, it looks like The Legend of Vox Machina will return to its regular schedule in 2026.

During San Diego Comic-Con in early 2025, Sam Riegel – a cast member of Critical Role and producer of The Legend of Vox Machina – revealed that Season 4 will arrive sooner than expected. While fans anticipated a 2026 release, Riegel confirmed the new episodes will premiere “early next year.”

Sam Riegel announced that Season 4 of The Legend of Vox Machina will be released early next year, and they’ve already been approved to make Season 5. He also shared that Season 5 will be the last one, as it will conclude the story.

This aligns with what the cast of Critical Role told TopMob when promoting The Mighty Nein. Travis Willingham stated that “Season 4 of Vox Machina is finished” and they were aiming for a release “early next year”.

The first season of The Mighty Nein will be released this month, and we can’t wait for everyone to see it. We’ve also finished Season 4 of Vox Machina, so we’re hoping it will be available to watch sometime early next year.

We don’t know the exact release date for the next season of The Legend of Vox Machina, but past seasons have usually come out in late January. Since The Mighty Nein will still be airing until the end of December, a January 2026 release for TLOVM seems unlikely. A release in Spring 2026 appears to be a reasonable expectation.

The Legend of Vox Machina is a grand fantasy story about a group of mismatched heroes on a quest to protect their world, Exandria, from darkness. The original voice actors – including Travis Willingham, Laura Bailey, Liam O’Brien, and others – reprise their roles and also served as executive producers on the show. The final episode of Season 3 became available on Prime Video on October 24, 2024.

What Is in Store for Vox Machina in Season 4?

As The Legend of Vox Machina nears its conclusion, the animated series is now adapting the most dramatic parts of the original Dungeons & Dragons campaign. With Season 5 confirmed as the final season, Season 4 is setting up the big events and challenges that will conclude the heroes’ story.

After Season 3 ended, fans are immediately wondering what will happen to Vax, since the final episodes suggested he knew he was going to die. The finale also teased the main villain of the story, the Whispered One, and fans who watch Critical Role are excited to see this character brought to life in animated form.

A sneak peek at Season 4 suggests the group will undertake a complex heist to find a scroll connected to the Cobalt Soul – an organization also featured in the show The Mighty Nein. This indicates the action will continue at a fast pace. Like previous seasons of Critical Role’s animated series, Season 4 of TLOVM will include several guest stars, including Wayne Brady, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Tom Cardy.
