Danny Ramirez won’t be playing Manny in season 3 of The Last of Us. The role has been recast. Manny was a member of the Fireflies who appeared in season 2 and survived the events at the hospital from the season 1 finale. He then joined Abby in her pursuit of revenge.
People say Manny is a very loyal and positive person, but beneath the surface, he still struggles with past hurts and worries about letting his friends down when they count on him.
Ramirez will not be returning as Manny in the third movie, which was announced last April, because of conflicts with his filming schedule (according to Entertainment Weekly). He’s currently working on several other projects, including the films Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, a remake of Scarface, and his first time directing a movie called Baton.

After the news was released, fans shared their reactions on social media. One user on X wrote that losing a cast member from The Last of Us was a big blow, but praised the busy schedule of actor Danny Ramirez.
One fan said they were really let down because they’d been hoping for a more substantial part for Danny in the third season, even though they’re happy he’s continuing to succeed.

It’s been a wild ride for this show lately! Losing Ramirez is a big deal, but honestly, it’s just the latest change the series has seen in the past few months. It feels like things are really shifting around, and it’s a little crazy as a fan!
Last July, Neil Druckmann, a co-creator of the show, left his position as co-showrunner. Around the same time, the show also parted ways with co-executive producer Halley Gross.
Though Druckmann, one of the original creators of the video game the show is based on, is stepping back from day-to-day control, he will still be involved as an executive producer and credited as a co-creator. Craig Mazin will now be the sole showrunner for the upcoming season.
Neil Druckmann announced on Instagram that he’s leaving his creative role with HBO’s The Last of Us. He described it as a tough decision.

Now that season 2 is finished and before we begin serious work on season 3, I’m shifting my full attention to Naughty Dog and what we’ll be working on next.
“Co-creating the show has been a career highlight. It’s been an honor to work alongside Craig Mazin to executive produce, direct and write on the last two seasons,” Druckmann continued.
As a huge fan, I’m so grateful for how carefully and passionately the cast and crew brought The Last of Us Part I to life, and how they’re continuing that amazing work with The Last of Us Part II. I’m really excited to see HBO and PlayStation Productions continue Ellie and Abby’s story in the next season!
You can watch The Last of Us seasons 1 and 2 on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK, and on HBO Max in the US. There’s no confirmed release date for season 3 yet.
The latest issue of Living Legends magazine is now available, and it’s a special tribute to Dolly Parton! You can find ‘Dolly at 80’ in shops or order it online for only £8.99.
