The Last of Us season 2 finally lands release window

As a die-hard fan who’s been through the apocalyptic wasteland of the infected more times than I can count, hearing that The Last of Us season 2 is finally on its way is like finding a rare supply of clean water in a post-pandemic world! After the emotional rollercoaster that was the first season, I can’t wait to see how HBO will bring the video game’s iconic characters to life.

The Last of US season 2 minor spoilers follow.

HBO has finally confirmed a release window for The Last of Us‘ return.

As a devoted gamer (and avid TV show enthusiast), I’ve been eagerly anticipating news about the return of my favorite Primetime Emmy Award-winning series since it wrapped up back in March 2023. Can’t wait to find out when season two will kick off!

In a conversation with Deadline, HBO’s chairman Casey Bloys provided some insights on the expected release dates for upcoming seasons of “The Last of Us” and “The White Lotus”.

The executive stated that, for the most part, he anticipates that they will be eligible for Emmy consideration during the first half of the year.

Next summer, it’s likely that “The Last of Us” will hit the screens since the eligibility period for the Emmy Awards next year began on June 1, 2024, and will end on May 31, 2025.

In recent months, there have been numerous positive developments regarding the production process, one of which being Director Neil Druckmann’s announcement in July that filming had been completed in Vancouver.

He posted on Instagram, “My stay in Vancouver is wrapping up, but it’s been an amazing experience working alongside exceptionally gifted and gracious colleagues. I can hardly wait for everyone to witness the fantastic work we’ve been creating together!

In the upcoming season 2 of “The Last of Us,” we will encounter some of the game series’ best-known characters, with Isabela Merced portraying Dina, a significant romantic figure for the character Ellie.

Additionally, the character Dina brings along Abby (Kaitlyn Dever from No One Will Save You), a formidable soldier who harbors a grudge against someone.

For the upcoming second season, we have some fresh faces joining the cast: Catherine O’Hara, famously known for her role in Beetlejuice, has taken on an undisclosed character, and Jeffrey Wright will be back to play his role from the games as the militia leader Isaac Dixon.

In the United States, “The Last of Us” series is broadcasted on HBO. For viewers in the UK, it can be found on Sky Atlantic as well as the streaming platform NOW. Currently, they are working on producing Season 2.
