The Last Of Us Season 2 Finale Live Blog Watchalong: I’m Reacting To Ellie’s Hunt For Abby, Jesse Playing Hero And More

Caution: This discussion may contain spoilers for those yet to watch the final episode of The Last of Us Season 2. If you’re watching on HBO or streaming with a Max subscription, proceed with care!

Here, I have combined some of your sentences and made them easier to understand while maintaining the original message.

Well, it’s only been six weeks since “The Last of Us” began its emotionally intense second season, and now we’ve reached the finale. Although I could point fingers at reasons why it doesn’t have nine episodes like its predecessor, the co-showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann chose to split the story based on the source material. Despite my reluctance, I’m not prepared for this series to go on another 20-month hiatus until Season 3 arrives.

However, let’s put aside dwelling on future speculations and instead dive right into the present moment as I prepare to exclusively cover the final season 2 of The Last of Us. (In case HBO decides to surprise us with an unexpected episode 8 next week.) You can find my previous entries listed below.

The Last Of Us Season 2 Finale Live Blog Starts Here

Above all, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for joining us week after week. It’s just as rewarding for me to see returning faces as it is to welcome new ones. Admittedly, joining at the tail end might seem a bit unfortunate, but I have high expectations for an exciting journey ahead.

Before the celebrations begin, let me share some thoughts about events that I believe will not occur during the episode:

1. The sun will not rise in the west.
2. A unicorn will not appear and grant wishes to the characters.
3. There won’t be a sudden meteor shower causing chaos or destruction.
4. The main character won’t win a lottery without ever having bought a ticket.
5. A long-lost relative, who was thought to be deceased for centuries, will not show up unexpectedly.

  1. Ellie will find Abby and before they can fight, they both bond really hardcore over a shared love of ‘90s grunge rock.
  2. Tommy will wear a totally faded shirt that wouldn’t stick out against any background.
  3. Jesse will be totally cool with every aspect of Ellie and Dina’s burgeoning relationship and won’t say anything harsh.
  4. TV’s first Clicker-on-Clicker sex scene, coinciding with TV’s last Clicker-on-Clicker sex scene.

No Cold Open

Given that many opening scenes often conclude with a solemn atmosphere, it’s nice to see that the finale dives right into the main events without delay. I could have used an extra dose of Pedro Pascal’s Joel, considering his reappearance at the end. A deep breath.

Dr. Jesse Operates On Dina’s Gnarly Leg Wound

It strikes me as rather odd that Jesse and Dina returned to the theater without addressing the arrow wound in Dina’s leg first. Granted, I can see why they had to rush back there, but I’m not entirely convinced my reaction would have been as swift under similar circumstances. Additionally, some might find it ominous that the episode begins with Dina expressing concern that Jesse can’t let her die. However, I prefer to interpret it differently.

It seems strange that if every doctor insisted their patients to be silent and consume alcohol prior to surgery, wouldn’t Jesse find it peculiar that Dina declined the drink, doesn’t he? (or She doesn’t Jesse find it odd that Dina declined the drink in such a situation?)

To put it frankly, just hearing an arrow pierce through Dina’s leg would make me consider taking a drink or two, regardless of whether I was pregnant. Since I am male, such a wound isn’t typically something I’d encounter. It saddens me to think about Isabela Merced having to portray Dina’s injury throughout the rest of the episode and beyond.

A Shimmer Reference!

Fans have been eager for news about Ellie’s horse, who was last seen grazing at the record store when Ellie was left behind. However, I’m unsure if it can be considered that Jesse mentioned the horse as a way of identifying Ellie when she knocked on the door, to ensure her safety.

  • “Shimmer. I’m alone. Open the fucking door!” – Ellie, alone and wet and horseless

Still no actual update though…
