The Last of Us S2E3: Release Date, Time & What to Expect
In just two episodes, season 2 of The Last of Us has shown it isn’t afraid to challenge traditional storytelling norms. Introducing once again Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, the series also introduced Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), a Firefly with a mission to avenge her father’s demise. The drama heightened when Jackson found Cordyceps vines in the town pipes, while an army of infected lurked nearby, ready to invade the settlement. These heartrending events culminated in a shocking and highly debated ending for episode 2, titled “Through the Valley.
Although “Through the Valley” concluded some storylines on “The Last of Us,” it doesn’t mean that the show has come to an end. In fact, there are still five more episodes in this season, and a new season has already been confirmed. The upcoming episode is scheduled for release next week, and it will pick up right where the previous one left off, with a significant continuation of events following the dramatic final moments. So, viewers can expect to see many more major developments on “The Last of Us” before Ellie moves forward in her journey.
The Last of Us Season 2 Has Taken a Massive Turn
The Beginning Is Already Over
In the second episode of The Last of Us season 2, I found myself witnessing a heart-wrenching turn of events as Abby and her companions tracked down Joel. After a fierce confrontation at their headquarters, Abby mercilessly attacked him, and despite Ellie’s arrival in time to bear witness to his final moments, he was already beyond help. Ellie, grief-stricken by the brutal loss of her father figure, vowed to exact revenge on every member of Abby’s group. The rest of the season seems poised to follow Ellie’s relentless pursuit of these individuals, a mission driven by vengeance for Joel’s death. However, this quest may inadvertently perpetuate the very cycle of violence that led Abby to take Joel’s life in the first place.
Beyond Jackson, it’s clear that everyone there will require time to heal, given that Joel was instrumental to the town’s wellbeing. With numerous casualties, widespread destruction, and a heightened fear of Abby and the Fireflies reappearing, the town is at its lowest ebb since its rebirth post-outbreak. The town’s resources are severely depleted due to their recent traumatic events, making it challenging for them to provide support for Ellie. As a result, future episodes might depict Ellie fighting her personal battle on her own. With only five episodes remaining in this seven-episode season, it seems that the recovery of Jackson will not be a significant focus in the upcoming episodes.
In the second episode of “The Last of Us” Season 2, titled “Future Days”, we found ourselves thrust back into the heart-pounding action that the franchise is known for. The streets were teeming with infected, humans were fighting each other, and survival was a constant struggle. It portrayed a grim, realistic view of an apocalyptic world, and it looks like the next episode will keep things just as intense.
Where and When to Stream The Last Of Us Season 2, Episode 3
Episode 3 Will Change Everything
Viewing the second episode of season 2 made it clear: It’s crucial to watch episodes promptly to dodge major spoilers. Unfortunately, those who didn’t catch it live might have learned about Joel’s death from distraught fans. Although next week’s episode may not contain shocking twists like Joel’s passing, it’s still essential to catch the broadcast when it airs. The third episode of The Last of Us season 2 is set to premiere on Sunday, April 27, at 9 PM ET and 6 PM PT. Craig Mazin will be back as the writer, while Peter Hoar, who directed season 1, will take on directorial duties for this episode.
Fans can watch this week’s episode just like they’ve watched the other episodes from this season. HBO will broadcast it simultaneously on their premium cable network and their streaming service, Max. You can still stream previous episodes through Max anytime before or after next week’s airing. For updates about the upcoming episodes, check out HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 Podcast, available on YouTube and other podcast platforms. If you’d like to delve deeper into the game’s world, you can play it on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, or PC. Although some aspects have been adapted for the screen, the main storyline has largely stayed the same.
What to Expect From The Last of Us Season 2, Episode 3
Losing Joel Will Shatter Jackson
In the onward journey of “The Last of Us” season 2, Ellie must grapple with the sad truth that her mentor figure, Joel, has perished. HBO recently unveiled a sneak peek into the upcoming episode, showcasing Ellie recuperating from an apparent lung injury sustained during combat. Her journey further unfolds as she explores an empty Joel’s home while Tommy (played by Gabriel Luna) grapples with the loss of his brother.
The trailer subtly suggests the return of the W.L.F. militia, a group Abby and her companions joined post-events. It appears that Abby will be a part of this episode as well, given that the teaser concludes with a brief glimpse of Joel’s slayer, hinting at Abby’s potential presence.
Regardless of how long it takes Ellie to reach there, “The Last of Us” season 2 appears to be making its way to Seattle. Dina has managed to find the location of the W.L.F., and Ellie is determined to avenge Joel’s death. The second season has stirred much debate, serving as a contentious sequel to the widely acclaimed first season, with Joel’s murder being the primary cause of the controversy. As more episodes unfold, there’s a possibility that Pedro Pascal’s character, Joel, could resurface in flashback sequences. However, it seems unlikely that the show will continue its narrative with Joel as the leading man in future episodes.
The Last of Us is streaming on Max.
