Indonesia’s Alter Ego continues their quest for the M7 World Championship title after a hard-fought win against Team Spirit, a surprising contender from Russia. The match was full of exciting plays and unexpected team compositions, keeping viewers captivated. Alter Ego will now move on to face Team Liquid, while Team Spirit’s run in the tournament is over.
Here’s a quick summary of the Alter Ego versus Team Spirit match from Day 4 of the M7 World Championship knockout stage.
Alter Ego vs Team Spirit: M7 Knockout Stage Day 4 Recap
Game 1
Alter Ego started their match strongly, surprising Team Spirit early on. Although Team Spirit had a difficult beginning, they played carefully and stayed relatively close in terms of gold. By nine minutes into the game, Arifudin “Arfy” Dingarai had gathered enough advantages to become a very durable front-line player for Alter Ego. His Esmeralda was a major threat, and Team Spirit found it hard to defeat him, wasting resources trying to do so.
By 12 minutes, Arfy was so strong it was almost impossible to defeat him. He could easily break through defenses and inflict a lot of damage, making him a major problem in team fights. Seeing this, Team Spirit changed their strategy, deciding to focus on eliminating Arfy’s teammates instead. This worked well, and at 14 minutes they managed to quickly defeat four of the opposing team’s players, leaving Arfy as the only one still standing.
Mathaios “KidBomba” Chatzilakos played a key role in keeping Team Spirit in the game with his Alice, helping his team create opportunities and win fights. As the game went on, Team Spirit built a significant lead, which forced Alter Ego to give up control of the jungle and focus on defending their base. A final attempt by Alter Ego to fight back at the 24-minute mark failed, leading to their complete defeat and allowing Team Spirit to win the first game.
Game 2
Alter Ego bounced back in Game 2 by building a team composition focused on winning team fights. This was largely due to Dalvin “Hijumee” Putra choosing Yve, a character who excels at controlling large areas of the map. This made it very hard for Team Spirit to start fights, as Yve’s abilities made it difficult for them to move and escape.
After just 10 minutes, Alter Ego was significantly ahead, leading 12-4 in kills and having 3,000 more gold than Team Spirit, who were having trouble finding opportunities to farm. Team Spirit briefly turned things around by defeating Alter Ego’s Alexander “alekk” Owen, a strong player on Grock. However, without their tank, Alter Ego quickly recovered and secured an uncontested Lord at 16 minutes. Using the Lord’s power, they pushed directly to Team Spirit’s base and destroyed their crystal, tying the series.
Game 3
Alter Ego continued their strong performance in Game 3, quickly taking a 6–0 lead in the first five minutes. Team Spirit struggled across the map, as alekk’s clever use of Chip allowed Alter Ego to constantly create opportunities for fights and control of the map.
By 8 minutes into the game, Alter Ego was significantly ahead, with a gold lead of 8,000, making it difficult for Team Spirit to catch up. Alter Ego extended their advantage by taking the Lord at 11 minutes. They then dominated Team Spirit in a major team fight, allowing them to destroy the crystal and win the third round decisively.
Game 4
The fourth game started cautiously, with both teams playing conservatively. Things didn’t really pick up until the second Turtle appeared, and from then on, Alter Ego dominated. Team Spirit struggled to counter Hijumee’s Pharsa, allowing Alter Ego to easily win team fights and take control of the game.
By 9 minutes into the game, Alter Ego was significantly ahead, with 9 more kills and a 6,000 gold lead. Team Spirit struggled to counter Alter Ego’s strategy, and the gap continued to widen. By 12 minutes, Alter Ego had effectively sealed their victory, pushing down a lane to finish the game and win the series 3–1.
