The first season of the Apple TV+ show is almost over, but many mysteries remain. Last week’s episode, “L’air Perdu,” began to reveal details about Sidney’s past and why she’s doing what she’s doing. In the next episode, she’ll have to deal with the fallout from her actions.
The scene opens with Frank Remnick, played by Jason Clarke, getting a call with information about Haley Bennett’s character, Sidney Scofield. It quickly becomes clear that the tip wasn’t accidental – Sidney deliberately wanted them to locate her.
This puts Sidney face-to-face with Jacqueline Bradford, played by Alfre Woodard, hinting at a major confrontation that the show has been leading up to. The scene also places Sidney in a precarious situation, but the arrival of Dominic Cooper’s Havlock adds another layer of complexity. With Frank searching for them, it raises the question of whose side he’ll ultimately take. While he’s formed a connection with Sidney this season, his tendency to follow the rules might lead him to align with Woodard’s character.
In episode 9, Bradford arrives in Fairbanks with a CIA team and a new main objective. Meanwhile, Sidney risks everything to reveal what’s really going on.
“Converge” is the second-to-last episode of the series, and after the big reveals in Episode 8, this new installment will ramp up the action and build towards next week’s finale by exploring the fallout from Sidney’s plan.
She discovered her father’s hidden history and revealed she’d intentionally caused the plane crash that killed Havlock. This was because Havlock’s death would activate a failsafe, automatically releasing Archive 6 – information she needed to expose Bradford.
Like many Apple TV shows this week, the release of these series has been moved. Because of the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States, Apple decided to release both shows a few days later than usual. Typically, new episodes come out on Fridays, but they’ve been scheduled for Wednesday instead, giving families a chance to watch them during the holiday.
The Last Frontier Has Been a Streaming Hit Despite Mixed Reviews
The thriller, created by Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio, has received generally negative reviews, with a 44% score from critics and a 52% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite this, it’s performing well and its release before Thanksgiving is expected to keep it competitive with the current top show, Pluribus, which isn’t likely to relinquish its number one position easily.
Many viewers anticipate that the final episode of The Last Frontier will tie up all remaining plot points. However, Apple TV has not yet announced if the show will be renewed for a second season.
The Last Frontier returns on Wednesday, Nov. 26, on Apple TV.
