The Joker Is Officially Returning In The Batman 2 & He Could Meet A Major DC Villain

A sequel to The Batman might bring the Joker together with another of Batman’s famous enemies, similar to what happened in the first movie. Barry Keoghan played the Joker in a brief scene at the end of The Batman, hinting at a potential friendship with Paul Dano’s Riddler while both were at Arkham State Hospital.

A major scene featuring the Joker was removed from the theatrical release of The Batman, but it was later shared online. In the deleted scene, Batman, played by Robert Pattinson, interrogates the Joker, revealing they’ve interacted before. It now appears the Joker will return in The Batman 2 and could have a more significant part in the sequel’s storyline.

The Joker Is Reportedly Back For The Batman 2

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about The Batman 2, as finishing the script took longer than expected and caused several delays. Now, though, we’re starting to get some new information. This makes sense, as production is scheduled to begin in 2026, meaning DC Studios needs to finalize the cast soon.

Sources at Variety report that Barry Keoghan is likely to reprise his role as the Joker in The Batman 2. While details about his involvement are still under wraps, neither DC, director Matt Reeves, nor Keoghan himself have confirmed his appearance. However, if he does return, it could mean another DC villain joins the Joker’s circle of contacts.

The Joker’s Return Could Lead To A Meeting With A Major Rumored DC Villain

I’m so excited about The Batman 2! The casting news is really picking up, and it sounds like they’re bringing in some fantastic talent. I was thrilled to hear rumors that Scarlett Johansson, who I loved as Black Widow, might be joining the cast. Apparently, she’s being considered for a really interesting role – and now it’s being reported she could play Gilda Dent, Harvey Dent’s wife! That would be an amazing addition to the story, and I can’t wait to see what they do with that character.

The upcoming Batman sequel just got more intriguing with the possibility of Sebastian Stan, known for playing Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, joining the cast. Details about his potential role are currently secret, but rumors suggest he might portray Harvey Dent, the character famously known as Two-Face. His performance in the thriller Fresh demonstrates he has the dramatic depth needed for the part.

If Two-Face appears in The Batman 2 and is played by a talented actor like Stan, it makes the prospect of Keoghan returning as the Joker even more thrilling. Director Matt Reeves once planned a series based on Arkham Asylum, and with so many villains already established in The Batman universe, that idea could evolve into a fully populated Arkham by the end of The Batman 2, potentially featuring characters like the Joker, Two-Face, and others.
