The jaw-dropping origins of Marvel's new villain have been "revealed"

As a seasoned gamer with decades of Marvel Universe adventures under my belt, I can confidently say that the latest developments have sent ripples of excitement through the comic book world. The return of Robert Downey Jr., reprising his iconic role as Doctor Doom, is nothing short of mind-boggling!

2021 was an uncommonly challenging year for Marvel Studios, marked by a series of setbacks at the box office, critical pans for one of its streaming series, and the departure of actor Jonathan Majors, who was slated to play Kang the Conqueror in the MCU. However, things have started looking up this year as the joint release of Deadpool and Wolverine reinstated Marvel Cinematic Universe’s membership in the billion-dollar club.

At San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel announced some thrilling updates. They disclosed their plans for the previously titled “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty”, now rebranded as “Avengers: Doomsday”. Interestingly, Robert Downey Jr. will be portraying Doctor Doom in this movie, taking on the role of the main antagonist for the upcoming Multiverse Saga.

Following the initial fervor about Downey Jr.’s comeback to the series, viewers started questioning the feasibility given his past portrayal of the MCU’s quintessential hero, Iron Man. Now, a fresh report offers some clarification on this point.

Doctor Doom is reportedly from the same earth as the Fantastic Four

As a devoted Marvel fan, I can’t help but share my excitement over the latest scoop from trusted insider Daniel Richtman. It appears that he’s hinted at something truly groundbreaking – Doctor Doom might hail from the same universe as the Fantastic Four!

It’s been speculated that Doctor Doom hails from another universe or timeline, a theory that hasn’t been officially verified by Marvel. However, given the ongoing Multiverse Saga in the franchise and the need for a multiversal antagonist, it seems plausible. Moreover, Robert Downey Jr., who played Tony Stark/Iron Man for over a decade, is now portraying Doctor Doom, suggesting an explanation for this character’s resemblance to him.

The jaw-dropping origins of Marvel's new villain have been "revealed"

As a gamer, I’ve been pondering the idea that this version of Victor von Doom could be an alternate universe’s twin of Tony Stark. Instead of following the same path as my MCU counterpart, his life took a completely different turn. There were whispers that he might make his debut in the upcoming Fantastic Four film before playing significant roles in both “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.”

“The Fantastic Four: Initial Strides” introduces the main quartet of superheroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time. This film is said to be set in a different universe from the rest of the series, which could account for Doctor Doom’s origin. It’s been whispered that Doctor Doom might make an appearance in the post-credits scene of the 2025 movie, thereby hinting at his future involvement in the Avengers films.

At present, it appears that there’s a backstory for Doctor Doom, although this could still shift as Marvel decides. This potential origin story makes both the upcoming Fantastic Four film and the next two Avengers movies highly anticipated events.
