The Irrational season 2, episode 7 ending explained: Who killed Yunni's fan?

As a seasoned gamer who has navigated countless digital worlds and real-life situations alike, I can confidently say that The Irrational season 2 fall finale was a rollercoaster ride of suspense, intrigue, and character development.

In simple terms, the second season finale of “The Irrational” didn’t fall short of expectations. It presented an intriguing mystery to solve and notable character growth for several individuals.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from The Irrational season 2, episode 7.

In this captivating episode, I delved into the vibrant realm of K-pop, where my passion lies alongside Rizwan’s. The story unfolded not just about the glamour, but also the hidden truths that celebrities guard. When a heartbreaking tragedy struck the fan base of Yunni, Alec and Rose were tasked with uncovering the reality. Was it Yunni who pulled the trigger?

Yunni didn’t kill her fan in The Irrational season 2, episode 7

From the very beginning, it seemed clear to everyone that Yunni wasn’t involved in the crime. The mystery lay in understanding why she would risk being accused of murder by not revealing her alibi instead.

When Yunni revealed that she hesitated to inform the police about her alibi involving her ex-boyfriend because she was terrified of jeopardizing her record label, I found myself puzzled. Now I understand why: She couldn’t risk losing the only financial support that was being sent back home to her family in South Korea. It’s clear. However, wouldn’t avoiding prosecution for a murder she didn’t commit also mean giving up her record label, wouldn’t it?

This is my favorite part of the series, as it consistently demonstrates how individuals often act illogically, thinking their actions are reasonable. In this instance, we saw Yunni doing just that.

Ultimately, Yunni chose to part ways with her record label and manager. During this same period, she decided to work independently instead, making all the previous discussions irrelevant.

Additionally, Alec and Rose discovered that the manager was indeed the culprit. However, the manager’s role seemed insignificant compared to the overall episode. On the other hand, Yunni’s actions piqued my curiosity, and “The Irrational” has been excelling at this aspect. Notably, for those who appreciate psychology.

Rizwan and Phoebe test out a theory

In Phoebe’s research, participants were found to speak out about misinformation. However, Rizwan’s findings suggest that in a group setting, only one person typically does so. Perhaps the anonymity of Phoebe’s study allowed people to feel more comfortable standing up against the norm.

It was intriguing to apply theories in practice, but I’m not convinced that this research made significant progress like some other studies did during different experiments.

Rose needs to stop trying to break up with Alec in The Irrational

As a gamer, let me tell you, nothing grinds my gears quite like the ongoing tale of Alec and Rose. I’m all for their pairing; the way they finally uttered the L-word in that episode was just heartwarming. But honestly, Rose is starting to push my buttons.

As a gamer putting up with this real-life drama, I’m tired of the never-ending dance around the issue with Alec. Again, she mentions that things are too risky for him. If she genuinely wants to end things, let’s just say so instead of beating around the bush! It feels like a repetitive game I’ve grown weary of playing. I can understand if something major has transpired between them, but it seems there’s been no such event.

Marisa shows her own bias in The Irrational season 2 fall finale

In the end, Kylie and Marisa shared some wonderful moments together. Recalling their awkward dinner encounter during the first season, where they acknowledged their estrangement due to Marisa’s divorce with Alec, I’m delighted to see them mending fences in season 2 of The Irrational. Given that they now work at the same office, it’s only natural that they lean on each other.

Marisa turns to Kylie about issues with her boss. It’s Kylie who points out that Marisa has a bias. Marisa hates the idea of the escape room, but Kylie points out that she only hates it because she didn’t come up with it herself. Marisa has to admit that, and once again, we see that these people aren’t perfect. They’re human.

It’s great that they can explore and understand themselves better. They have the opportunity to examine their actions, and they take note of feedback from others about their behavior. It might be beneficial for us all to engage in a similar self-reflection process.

The fall finale didn’t leave us on tenterhooks with an unresolved plot twist. No worries, there are still many compelling factors that make it worth tuning in again when the series comes back.

The Irrational returns on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 10/9c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
