After the unexpected departure of Gaimin Gladiators from The International 2025, it has been confirmed that Yakutou Brothers will be taking their place instead.
As The International 2025 approaches swiftly, the substitute team for Gaimin Gladiators has been identified – the Yakutou Brothers. After an unexpected withdrawal announcement mere days ago, some semblance of order is being restored. Last week, one of the seven teams directly invited to the tournament, Gaimin Gladiators, made a sudden exit. Now, following much anticipation, their replacement has been officially announced, making the Yakutou Brothers the third Chinese team participating in The International 2025.
Why the Yakutou Brothers enter The International 2025

As a devoted fan, I received exciting news through the official TI X account – a revelation that unveiled the complete lineup of the successors stepping in after GG’s withdrawal! Although there has been much chatter about GG’s departure, a fresh team is now eagerly preparing to take up the challenge. Initially, many had guessed that teams like OG might be receiving the new invitation.
While you may not recognize them by the name Yakutou Brothers, they are in fact the revamped version of “Yakult Brothers.” Despite undergoing a change in branding, this team has been a united force since shortly after TI2024. Though they have extensive knowledge of TI events, it will mark their debut at The International as a cohesive unit.
It appears that instead of a regional qualifier, Valve directly invited GG to The International (TI), which means their spot wasn’t open for any team to compete for. Teams like OG, who have faced roster problems and other issues, may have missed out on participating due to this direct invitation system. Although Valve hasn’t officially stated the reasoning behind their decision, it seems plausible that they did not include regional qualifiers for TI.
A new challenger enters the ring
The Yakutou Brothers have encountered numerous challenges since their formation, but TI2025 presents an ideal platform for them to demonstrate their abilities. With three teams from China now on board, there are whispers of the region regaining its strength. However, with Hamburg, Germany, hosting the event in just two weeks, they’re rushing to finish their preparations.
The full Yakutou Brothers roster for TI2025 is:
- Zhou “Emo” Yi
- Jin “flyfly” Zhiyi
- Xiang “Beyond” Zhenghong
- Chan “Oli” Chon Kien
- Ye “BoBoKa” Zhibiao
It’s uncertain whether they have what it takes to make a strong showing or potentially surprise us with significant victories. We’ll find out soon enough.
