According to The Economist, the catchy tune earns Mariah $3.8 million (US$2.5 million) every year.

Mariah Carey earns an estimated $4.6 million each year from royalties, adding some festive cheer to her finances.

The song has been streamed 2.24 billion times on Spotify and earned Mariah Carey a remarkable $92 million in royalties when it was first released, according to a 2022 Forbes report.

Mariah has used her annual Christmas cash to help fund her lavish lifestyle.

In early 2016, Mariah Carey and her fiancé, James Packer—an Australian billionaire—began living in a large six-bedroom house in the private, upscale community of The Oaks, located in Calabasas, California.

James Packer explained to 7NEWS Spotlight that after his split with Mariah Carey, she believed he had leaked a damaging story to a magazine – a claim he denies. He said the story made her look bad.

She was threatening to reveal damaging information about me, and it quickly became a disaster. Things completely fell apart.
