The Incredible Hulk Dies Unleashing New Marvel Villain

For years, it hasn’t mattered if Hulk ‘died’ – thanks to a story change in 2018, he was essentially immortal. But that’s changed now: the Hulk is actually dead, his immortality is gone, and a new, even more powerful enemy has emerged.

The latest Incredible Hulk comic storyline revolves around a powerful being called the Mother of Horrors. Unlike most cosmic entities in the Marvel Universe, she wasn’t created by the One Above All. She had two children and planned to conquer everything, but only her oldest child, a shapeshifting creature known as The Eldest, avoided her wrath.

The Mother of Horrors was imprisoned in the deepest, most fundamental layer of existence, known as the Below-Place. Only the ruler of that realm, the One Below All, could release her. This powerful being, a source of immense anger and malice, was the Hulk’s spiritual origin and the counterpart to the One Above All. Because of this connection to the One Below All, the Hulk – and all others mutated by gamma radiation – were essentially immortal. This immortality made the Hulk a target for the Eldest, who believed they could free the Mother of Horrors by taking control of his body.

In *The Incredible Hulk #30*, written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and illustrated by Nic Klein, the Eldest finally had her moment. She took control of the Abomination’s body and confronted the Hulk in a mysterious realm called the Below-Place. Instead of battling him physically, she used her powers to separate Bruce Banner’s consciousness from the Hulk. This psychic attack appeared to destroy the Hulk’s spirit, though his physical form remained, allowing the Eldest to transform into a new, even more dangerous villain.

New Infernal Hulk Explained

The Eldest was horrified to find the Mother of Horrors dead in her prison. When the Mother didn’t respond, the Eldest began consuming her body. This granted her the Mother of Horrors’ powers, on top of the incredible strength she already possessed from the Hulk’s body. The narration revealed that with the Mother of Horrors and the One Below All gone, a new being had emerged – the Infernal Hulk. Ultimately, only the Hulk remained.

A new Infernal Hulk series begins in November. Eldest, now wielding immense power, is attempting to resurrect a terrifying ancient world by transforming heroes into monsters. But Bruce Banner is still out there, and he’s determined to use his incredible intelligence to stop this emerging danger.

The Incredible Hulk #30 is now available at comic shops everywhere.
