The Inbetweeners star Simon Bird shares disappointing update on reunion
As a gamer with an extensive background in binge-watching TV shows, I must admit that the news about no new Inbetweeners reunion has left me feeling like Will McKenzie when he found out there were no more pizza slices left at the party – utterly devastated! The show was a significant part of my teenage years, and the characters’ antics still bring a smile to my face.
Simon Bird has dashed fans’ hopes for a new The Inbetweeners reunion.
Over three seasons and two films from 2008 to 2014, the 40-year-old actor portrayed Will McKenzie. His fellow actor Joe Thomas hinted at a potential reunion, but it appears such an event won’t take place according to Bird.
He shared, rather reluctantly, that it seemed unlikely, as far as he was concerned, and he wanted to make it clear: there will be no chance for a reunification, according to his information. [Said to The Daily Mail]
We’d love to help, but unfortunately, the decision isn’t in our hands. It lies with Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, the writers, and I understand they have been quite occupied lately.
“It’s not more likely to happen now than it was 10 years ago, I’m afraid,” he added.
In my opinion, the movie seemed to embody a specific era. Previously, I stirred up some controversy on social media when I suggested that it wouldn’t be produced today, and I’m still unsure if it actually would.
“So no, there has been no discussion about a new show or film.”
As a dedicated gamer, I’d put it like this: We’re an unbeatable crew, Bird, Thomas, James Buckley, and Blake Harrison – bonded together for good, or should I say, for gaming life! Getting us all in one place is as tricky as solving the hardest level, but we’ve got a reunion planned for March. Can’t wait to team up again!
I’m frequently approached on the street with quotes from Will, yet I find myself puzzled as to their origin.
He stated, “I haven’t rewatched the show; I simply can’t recall it.
To my surprise, it seems that there’s still a strong desire for it. In fact, people really enjoy it.
A special titled “Fwends Reunited“, hosted by Jimmy Carr, wasn’t particularly well-received among the audience.
The Inbetweeners can be streamed in full on the Channel 4 app/website.
