The Inbetweeners is set for a shock comeback as show star Joe Thomas reveals talks for a reboot are underway and ALL of the main cast are involved
As a dedicated follower of the Inbetweeners since its inception, I can’t help but feel a wave of nostalgia upon hearing about the potential return of this beloved series. Having grown up with these characters, their antics, and their hilarious misadventures, it feels like reconnecting with old friends after years apart.
There’s a possibility The Inbetweeners might be back on our screens, as one of the leading actors hinted at negotiations for a comeback.
Joe Thomas, aged 40, who played the character Simon in the popular growing-up comedy series, has announced that the principal actors are ready and willing to reunite for a project ten years after the final episode was broadcasted.
Instead of a new TV series, the actor proposed that it’s more probable for another film to be made, focusing on a gang of friends after they leave school.
On the Always Be Comedy podcast, Joe was questioned about potential discussions surrounding a return, and he responded: “Indeed, it has transpired in numerous ways. We all believe it would be pleasant if we could.”
He revealed he is still good pals with the cast, including James Buckley (Jay), Simon Bird (Will) and Blake Harrison (Neil), and admitted they are worried whether it ‘will be as good’ as the original series.

He teased ‘some of the ideas out there’ for a revival included a stag do in Vegas.
The four lads would also meet for five-a-side football rather than in the school common room.
However, Joe confessed that everyone might harbor the thought, “Will it be as impressive?” This would likely be the apprehension we all carry in.
The sitcom, featuring Emily Atack portraying Charlotte, aired for three seasons from 2008 to 2010. However, it was the release of the two movies in 2011 and 2014 that significantly boosted The Inbetweeners’ fame across a broad audience.
In “The Inbetweeners 2,” the immature quartet embarked on an adventure to Australia, surpassing the earnings of the initial film as it raked in a stunning £2.75 million during its first day at the box office, setting a new record.
Joe went on to say, “We’re all still here, and we’re all still a part of one another’s journeys. We all still appreciate each other, and if an opportunity were to arise, I believe we’d be keen to act upon it.”
‘I feel like we all still really like each other.
“Everyone has had the chance to tackle different personal issues or responsibilities, aside from focusing on ‘The Inbetweeners’, in an effort to validate themselves.”

Joe encountered his wife, Hannah Tointon, on the show more than fifteen years back, and since then, they’ve been blessed with their firstborn.
Hannah and Joe crossed paths following her portrayal as Tara, Simon’s on-screen love interest, in season three of The Inbetweeners.
In 2010, Joe acknowledged that they were in a romantic relationship, yet expressed his puzzlement about how their bond developed following their shared acting moments on the program.
He said: ‘I can’t really see how those scenes kindled romance because they were all her being sick into my mouth… but I’m really into that so obviously it was fine!
It’s possible that working on set intensifies things, which might influence us, but it’s important to note that our real-life relationship isn’t modeled after Simon and Tara’s characters from the series.
In 2018, they both acted in the summer comedy film “The Festival.” Eight years following their initial collaboration, Joe expressed his joy about acting alongside his fiancée once more during an interview with Christine Bleakley on ITV’s Lorraine.
He quipped: ‘I’ve got to the stage like she’s in everything, it went very well I think!’
