The Immortal Man Finally Sets Release Window

The historical crime drama was a huge hit. It first aired on BBC in 2013 and concluded with Season 6 in 2022, though the story world still exists and continues to expand.

After the end of Season 6, Peaky Blinders will continue as a movie. The film is set a few years after the series’ conclusion, and viewers have been eager to learn its release date. Recently, Cillian Murphy, the actor who portrayed Thomas Shelby, revealed the release date during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show.

The Oscar-winning actor appeared on The Graham Norton Show to discuss his latest Netflix movie, Steve. He was joined by guests including Greta Lee and Jodie-Turner Smith from Tron: Ares, as well as Taylor Swift. Lewis Capaldi provided the musical entertainment. During the show, Murphy spoke about his new comedy drama and also briefly mentioned a follow-up film to Peaky Blinders.

In a recent interview, he stated that filming is complete and hinted that the movie sequel will be released “next year.” The film, available on Netflix, began production in September 2024 and wrapped up in December 2024. While initially anticipated for a late 2025 release, Murphy revealed it will now premiere in 2026.

While discussing the show, the Oppenheimer star amusingly mentioned Tommy’s haircut, which became a huge online trend. “Honestly, it’s pretty gross,” he began. “The reason for that haircut was to help prevent head lice. It supposedly gives you a 60% better chance of avoiding them,” he explained.

Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has hinted at a future project. While he didn’t mention when it might happen, he described the upcoming announcement as “really, really, really brilliant.”

Murphy had been seen at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival previously, but now he was officially stating when the film would be released. Although it’s doubtful that was the intention of Knight’s announcement, the Peaky Blinders world continues to expand.

Peaky Blinders Will Continue With a Sequel Series

Even though a final feature film is coming to conclude Tommy Shelby’s story, the world of Peaky Blinders isn’t ending. A sequel series is being developed, and Netflix and the BBC are collaborating on it. They recently announced the sequel and hinted at a significant leap forward in time – the new series will be set in 1953, a decade after the original, and will explore new storylines.

Before any information was revealed about the newest installment, Netflix and BBC had already confirmed the format. Each season will have six one-hour-long episodes. Murphy will serve as an executive producer, working alongside Steven Knight, who created the original series. In the meantime, Steven Knight has another new series on Netflix, Peaky Blinders: The Rise, a historical drama centered around the famous family.

The Immortal Man comes out in 2026.
