The Hurt Syndicate in AEW would work perfectly

As a seasoned gamer of wrestling lore, I can’t help but feel a pang of excitement at the prospect of The Hurt Syndicate gracing All Elite Wrestling (AEW) rings. Having grown up watching the dynamic trio of Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin in WWE, their departure left a void that the fans and I have eagerly awaited to be filled.

As a diehard wrestling fan, I can’t help but feel that The Hurt Business didn’t get the recognition they truly deserved in WWE. This dynamic quartet of Bobby Lashley, MVP, Cedric Alexander, and Shelton Benjamin was adored by us fans, consistently delivering some of the best performances during the pandemic-induced hiatus. Yet, it seemed that the powers-that-be in WWE overlooked their cool factor, leading to an unfortunate disbanding of the group.

On September 11, Fightful Select announced that the current team known as the Hurt Syndicate may have held negotiations with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). To put it simply, there have allegedly been conversations and even preliminary arrangements for a group much like The Hurt Business to persist outside of WWE. More specifically, sources claim that AEW has recently engaged in discussions with Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin. It’s important to note that while talks have taken place, no deal has been reached or is expected to happen soon.

In All Elite Wrestling, the threesome of Lashley, MVP, and Benjamin could be quite powerful. However, the intrigue lies in the possibility of expansion. MVP had expressed a desire for Ricochet to join their original team during their time in WWE, but this wish was not granted. Now that Ricochet is part of AEW, this opportunity may resurface. Additionally, Lio Rush, who was previously paired with Lashley upon his return to WWE, could also potentially be a part of the group, given their history and the logical fit it would provide.

In a departure from the criticism that groups only consisting of one ethnicity can be problematic, The Hurt Syndicate’s formation is justified given their shared past. Picture them going head-to-head against the revamped Blackpool Combat Club – fights fans would clamor for. This faction has potential for numerous long-term storylines. Lashley, a top-tier performer, demonstrated this during his WWE championship tenure. With no prior experience shining in the main event spot of a major promotion, he might find that opportunity within All Elite Wrestling.

Previously, when someone left WWE, fans of independent wrestling (IWC) often chanted “Go to AEW” as a show of support. With the ongoing free agency wars, whispers suggest that Shelton Benjamin, MVP, and Bobby Lashley might join AEW. If they do, teaming up with Ricochet and Lio Rush to form a new Hurt Syndicate would generate significant revenue.
