The Housemaid spoilers follow.
Before its release, Sydney Sweeney has hinted at a possible follow-up to her new film, The Housemaid. This psychological thriller, adapted from Freida McFadden’s novel, features Sweeney as Millie, a live-in maid who works for the affluent Winchester family.
Millie’s new job starts off great, but quickly becomes frightening when she discovers disturbing truths about her cruel boss, Andrew (Brandon Sklenar), and his troubled wife, Nina (Amanda Seyfried).
What to Read Next
The movie ends without a clear resolution, showing Millie interviewing with a new, interesting family, hinting that there might be sequels to come.
McFadden has continued the story with two more novels, The Housemaid’s Secret and The Housemaid Is Watching, offering potential material for a three-part movie series.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sydney Sweeney was asked if she’d be open to playing the character again if given the chance.
The actor remained coy, saying, “We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.” They expressed a wish that audiences would enjoy the movies as much as the cast enjoyed the source material, and hinted at the possibility of making more films if they’re well-received.

Despite her character leaving for California at the film’s end, Seyfried has said she’d be open to appearing in a follow-up movie.
She confirmed she’d be open to making more movies, explaining that they could always stop if the first one wasn’t successful. However, if it did perform well, a whole series would definitely be on the table.
I only agreed to this film, knowing my character’s story would conclude here. However, I’ve let them know I’d happily join any future installments, as I really enjoyed working with director Paul Feig.
The Housemaid is released in UK cinemas on 26 December.
