The Hole starring Theo James casts Squid Game star Hoyeon

Hoyeon, the enigmatic actress who left us spellbound in Squid Game, is joining forces with Theo James, another titan of the small screen, for a thriller titled The Hole.

In a fresh and captivating turn of events, it was recently announced that Squid Game’s breakout actor, Hoyeon, has been chosen for an upcoming thriller titled The Hole. This news follows closely on the heels of reports stating that Theo James, known for his roles in The Monkey and The Gentlemen, will also feature in this film.

Similar to James, Hoyeon is a nominee for an Emmy award. She is particularly renowned for her mesmerizing portrayal of Kang Sae-byeok in the hugely popular survival drama series “Squid Game.” At present, she’s appearing in the psychological thriller miniseries “Disclaimer” and will soon feature in the science fiction thriller movie “Hope.” We’re eagerly anticipating her showcasing her skills in “The Hole.

The movie titled “The Hole” will be adapted from Hye-young Pyun’s 2017 book bearing the same name. Known for directing “I Saw The Devil,” director Kim Jee-woon is set to helm this film, with a script penned by Christopher Chen. It’s expected that production will commence between Q1 and Q2 of 2025. Notably, the movie will be filmed in both the United States and South Korea.

In this rephrased version: The story centers on Owen, a highly accomplished professor residing in South Korea, who finds himself bedridden following a devastating car crash that claims the life of his wife, Sandy. As he recovers under the watchful eye of his mother-in-law, Yuna (who is Korean), Owen encounters a fresh hurdle when Yuna unearths shocking truths about his marriage to Sandy and his concealed past. These revelations create doubt in his journey towards healing.

The movie is planned to feature dialogue in both English and Korean. James has been assigned the character of Owen, while Hoyeon will portray Sandy. As for Yuna, the actor or actress playing this role hasn’t been revealed yet. With the recent casting of an actress for Sandy, we might soon learn who will be joining the cast to play Yuna as well.

For the upcoming film, The Veterans are responsible for its global distribution rights and plan to showcase it to potential buyers during the American Film Market. Meanwhile, CAA Media Finance and UTA’s Independent Film Group handle the domestic rights within the United States.
