Fans in the UK can now mark their calendars for the release of The Testaments, the sequel series to The Handmaid’s Tale. Based on Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel, the show is set in the oppressive world of Gilead.
Originally revealed in 2019, the series The Testaments will launch on Disney+ in the UK on April 8th with three episodes. After that, new episodes will be released each week.
Taking place 15 years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale, the new show follows young women growing up in the oppressive society of Gilead and facing a difficult future.

As a huge fan of The Handmaid’s Tale, it’s so interesting to see June’s daughter, Agnes – played by Chase Infiniti – back in the story. It’s heartbreaking remembering how June, played by Elisabeth Moss, had Agnes taken away from her right at the beginning of the series.
The show centers around two teenage girls: Agnes, who is responsible and deeply religious, and Daisy, a newcomer and recent convert who comes from outside the walls of Gilead.

At Aunt Lydia’s exclusive school for women training to be wives, students are harshly taught to obey, always under the guise of religious righteousness. Amidst this strict environment, a powerful connection forms between the girls, one that will dramatically change everything about their lives – their history, their current situation, and what’s to come.
The cast also includes Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Birva Pandya, and Kira Guloien, alongside Dowd, Infiniti, and Halliday.
So, the creator of The Handmaid’s Tale, Bruce Miller, is heading up this new show, and it’s got some serious backing – Warren Littlefield is an executive producer, and awesome news, Elisabeth Moss is producing too! I’m already excited to see what they come up with.

Last year, Miller described the show as a story about the challenges of growing up, comparing it to a mix of ‘Mean Girls’ and the dystopian world of Gilead. She explained it’s about the experience of being young and vibrant while a society attempts to force you to conform, especially after initially showering you with praise and then demanding harmful actions.
You can’t change who a teenage girl is, no matter how hard you try. It’s foolish for Gilead to think they can control young girls – it was never going to work.
The Testaments will premiere on 8 April on Disney+.
I’m so excited! The latest issue of Living Legends is out, and it’s all about Dolly Parton! You can grab a copy of ‘Dolly at 80’ in shops now, or order it online for only £8.99. Definitely picking one up!
