The Grand Tour’s Richard Hammond announces exciting new role
As a dedicated fan of The Grand Tour, I must say that Richard Hammond‘s announcement of a new project with The Smallest Cog has sent waves of excitement coursing through my gamer-heart! After a decade-long journey with the trio, it feels bittersweet to bid farewell to the dynamic duo of Clarkson and May, but the promise of new adventures is just too enticing to resist.
The Grand Tour star Richard Hammond has announced an exciting new project.
After an incredible eight-year journey alongside Jeremy Clarkson and James May, I’ve bid farewell to our much-loved car series on Prime Video. It’s been a fantastic ride!
Immediately following the last episode’s release on the streaming platform last Friday (September 13), Hammond announced on Instagram that he has another venture underway with his restoration company, The Smallest Cog, indicating that new projects are already in progress.
Accompanying a picture where the presenter is seen alongside two brand-new cars from “The Grand Tour,” the caption stated: “This marks the end of an era, yet the beginning of something thrilling! Not one, but TWO of the latest vehicles from ‘The Grand Tour’ are here!
Can’t wait to breathe new life into these icons, preserving their cherished memories while making them functional again for everyone to appreciate!
For more than twenty years, Hammond, Clarkson, and May have teamed up as a dynamic presenting trio. They shared hosting duties on the BBC automotive show “Top Gear” from 2002 to 2015, then created “The Grand Tour” together in 2016.
In September 2023, the team concludes their final episode of The Grand Tour, with an exhilarating journey across Zimbabwe. They cruise in a Lancia Montecarlo, a Ford Capri, and a Triumph Stag for this captivating road adventure.
In an interview with Metro, Hammond shared some insights about the finale, stating that it will be a sincere and touching farewell and gratitude from the team.
Instead of anticipating grand explosions or collapses, understand that this is relatively straightforward. In essence, it’s a heartfelt expression of gratitude for enabling these remarkable two decades we’ve shared together.
During the broadcast, it was also verified that The Grand Tour will carry on with fresh hosts – however, he remains unaware of their identities at this time.
He announced that they would no longer be the hosts, but the event will carry on with Prime. So, I’m excited to switch seats and enjoy watching someone else take over. What a fantastic transition!
The Grand Tour: One For The Road is available to stream on Prime Video.
