The actress, with a career lasting almost four and a half decades, is often referred to as a “nepotism product,” given that both her parents were accomplished actors in their own right.

Lately, the celebrity has been generating a lot of attention not only on-screen but also off-screen due to her frequent postings of intense rants on various social media platforms.

She has been labeled as “woke” by figures such as Maureen Callahan from the Daily Mail, along with numerous users on platform X (previously known as Twitter), due to her opinions regarding the Trump administration and matters like abortion.

Now she has been seen on a rare outing in Los Angeles.

She shared a selfie video, accompanied by an extended comment: “Just want to clarify, I’m genuinely thrilled that Beyoncé won Best Country Album tonight. Amazing job! However, something seems odd. It appears we’re experiencing a coup. #coup

Indeed, it seems fitting for her to note that Beyoncé received a Grammy award during this discussion as she’s quite passionate about liberal ideas. She’s not one to hold back or slow down in expressing her enthusiasm.

Martha has long been an enthusiastic supporter of abortion rights, a stance she openly displays on her Instagram profile with the statement, “I love Abortion.

On July 4, 2024, she shared a meme that claimed an interesting tidbit: the letter ‘A’ in America supposedly represents ‘Abortion.’

Many people who follow her found the comment to be thoughtless, as one person put it: “‘I love abortion’ is an insensitive statement, considering it can be a deeply significant and often emotionally challenging choice that a woman has to make in her lifetime.

One person stated: ‘I’m pro-life… It’s wonderful that a child conceived has an opportunity to exist, but I wouldn’t force any woman to bear a child if she didn’t want to. However, I would try to persuade her to have the child and suggest adoption to a family who could provide a loving home for it… Just as your mother had you, giving you the chance to live… I imagine you are grateful for that opportunity!’

In 2018, Martha’s remarks at the #ShoutYourAbortion gathering stirred quite a commotion; these statements spread widely across the internet.

Speaking to a gathering of her supporters, Plimpton, who previously disclosed her past abortions as a young adult, declared during a town hall meeting: “For several reasons, Seattle holds a special place in my heart.

I have numerous relatives present, some of them are among the crowd here tonight. By the way, this is where I had my first abortion, at the Seattle Planned Parenthood – cheers! (This version maintains the original sentiment but presents it in a more conversational and less controversial manner.)

As the crowd erupted in applause, she continued, “Remember, I used the word ‘first.’ And I don’t intend to make anyone feel uneasy, but truly, that was my top performance.

‘Heads and tails above the rest. If I could Yelp review it, I totally would. 

If the doctor is present tonight, I don’t recall you at all, as I was 19. Still, I appreciate you, she expressed, as the audience applauded.

‘You probably won’t remember because I wasn’t that famous then,’ she concluded, jokingly. 

At a gathering in June 2018, Plimpton openly discussed her abortion. The pro-choice crowd, there to listen to her, appreciated her candor and applauded her bravery.

But the starlet, who has also appeared in The Good Wife, received a frostier reaction online. 

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I found myself deeply dismayed by certain remarks made in Seattle recently. I couldn’t help but express my disappointment online, using terms like ‘tacky’ and ‘abysmal’ to describe the comments that fell far short of grace and sophistication.

One critic questioned, “In what way could you find pride in this?” Other observers found her comments to be repulsive and troubling.

A different individual expressed: ‘Supporting the choice is understandable, but boasting about an abortion is regrettable. It reflects poorly on you.’

One likened her comments to a ‘total disregard for human life’. 

Plimpton has spoken in the past about having two abortions when she was a young actress. 

In her interview with ABC in 2015, she shared that having the option to receive medical care related to her two past abortions as a young woman was crucial for her to pursue her aspirations and live according to her desires in life.

In 1989, the year she turned 19, she was in a relationship with actor River Phoenix. 

In various movies, such as “Running On Empty,” the duo frequently collaborated. They remained companions for quite some time until River Phoenix passed away tragically in 1993 due to an overdose of cocaine and heroin.

River Phoenix, the younger sibling of actor Joaquin, was observing Johnny Depp’s band at The Viper Room when he sadly passed away outside.

In June, Plimpton neither revealed the identity nor made any references to the man who was the potential father of her unborn child when discussing her abortion.

#ShoutYourAbortion is an organization that advocates for women who have experienced abortions to openly discuss their experiences, aiming to break down the shame and secrecy often associated with this medical procedure.

The campaign creates shirts with phrases such as “Abortion equals liberty” and “It’s common knowledge that I had an abortion.” (Or, alternatively, “The campaign designs T-shirts bearing the slogans ‘Abortion is freedom’ and ‘Everyone understands that I underwent an abortion’.”)

Earlier, Plimpton marketed another item from their collection – a shift dress featuring the word prominently written in bold, black text.

At the age of 15, she made her debut in the timeless 1985 film The Goonies. Since then, she’s graced the screens in numerous productions such as Raising Hope and Parenthood.
