The Garvey sisters' chemistry makes Bad Sisters season 2 episode 1 shine (Premiere review)

As a seasoned gamer of both life and TV shows, I must say that Bad Sisters season 2 has truly captured my heart, much like how Ursula captures every man she sets her sights on! The blend of dark comedy and gripping drama is a potent brew, one that keeps me coming back for more.

The second season of “Bad Sisters” is here, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! This series quickly became one of my top picks, thanks to its cleverly dark humor and the fantastic camaraderie between the five main characters we met in season 1. I can’t wait to find out where this tale takes us next. Are you prepared for my review of “Bad Sisters” season 2 episode 1, titled “Good Sisters”? Let’s dive in… SPOILERS AHEAD.

In essence, this episode had a mix of humorous elements and more serious scenes. To begin, the opening scene features the Garvey sisters, excluding Grace, traveling at night with what appears to be a corpse in their vehicle. Who is this person and what transpired to cause such events? I suspect this will be the primary mystery unfolding throughout the season.

In the initial episode of this new season, set two years after the season 1 finale cliffhanger, I thought there would be a bit more insight into what the sisters have been experiencing during those two tumultuous years. Given the intensity and stress of the previous events, it seems reasonable to expect some explanation. Maybe these details will unfold gradually throughout the season? I’m not sure. However, one thing we can confirm is that Ursula and her spouse are no longer a couple, with him now seeing a new blonde woman. This isn’t shocking news considering her infidelity.

The primary issue in this incident, if we can use a metaphor, is Roger, and it’s hard not to feel sympathy for him. He’s a kind-hearted individual who has been through unspeakable torment at the hands of John Paul. Yet, his conscience is weighing heavily on him now. This distresses Grace because Roger may reveal details that could expose her. The situation is made more intense by the recent discovery of John Paul’s father’s body.

To recap, it’s important to note that JP was the one who took his father’s life. This could potentially prompt investigators to delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding John Paul’s death, as Grace and Roger orchestrated events to make it appear as a suicide. Unfortunately, this unfolds at an inopportune moment, as she has recently found contentment with Ian, a man who appears genuinely kind, and they have tied the knot.

It’s uncertain if that situation will persist given that Grace admitted her actions towards John Paul to Ian. Understandably, he appears stunned and needs some space to process it all. However, he doesn’t return home the following day, raising questions: Did he leave voluntarily? Could something have happened to him? Or was it Grace? These thoughts swirl around my mind. Even though we didn’t get much of Ian in the story so far, I find myself drawn to his character already. Here’s hoping nothing untoward has befallen him.

Two individuals whom I find displeasing at first sight are Inspectors Loftus and Houlihan. The former exhibits an unfunny harshness, while the latter is simply grating. Frankly, I’ve had enough of these two characters already. I find myself drawn to the curious Angelica, Roger’s sister, whose nosey nature and haughty demeanor may cause trouble for the girls. My gut feeling tells me so.

In my opinion, the initial episode of Bad Sisters‘ second season was well-executed, managing to introduce an element of intrigue while maintaining a sense of joy before events once again take a turn for the worse. The first installment skillfully set the stage for what’s ahead and subtly hinted at key plot points that will be pivotal this season.

Despite not being overly fond of the new characters at the moment, I must say that those familiar faces from the first season are as fantastic as I had anticipated. The actresses portraying Grace, Eva, Ursula, Bibi, and Becka truly have a captivating on-screen chemistry, which is what makes this show so brilliant! Grade level: B
