The Front Room starring Brandy will be released on Max in January 2025
As a horror enthusiast with a soft spot for psychological thrillers, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and trepidation about A24’s “The Front Room“. Having grown up on classics like “The Exorcist” and “Rosemary’s Baby”, I’ve developed a knack for spotting potential gems in the genre.
In January of this year, one of A24’s latest horror offerings, titled “The Front Room“, featuring Brandy Norwood, is set to stream for the first time. This will occur on Max starting early next month, specifically on Jan. 3, 2025. Following its streaming debut, it will air on HBO the very next day at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
As a gamer, I find myself drawn into the chilling world of “The Front Room,” which, like many spine-tingling tales, is inspired by an existing work. In this case, it’s Susan Hill’s short story that bears the same name. The talented Eggers brothers, Max and Sam, were the creative minds behind both the script and direction of this terrifying film.
24 Studios initially screened “The Front Room” in cinemas during September, but unfortunately, both critics and audiences didn’t seem to take a liking to it. What added to the disappointment was its poor performance at the ticket sales. The horror movie failed to impress at the box office, earning only 3.8 million dollars globally in total. In simpler terms, it turned out to be a financial disappointment or a box office flop.
Belinda and Norman, a happily married pair, eagerly anticipate parenthood. However, their peaceful life is disrupted when they allow Norman’s deeply religious stepmother, Solange, to temporarily reside with them. Solange displays bizarre and disruptive actions, harboring a seemingly malicious grudge against Belinda. As Solange persistently attempts to exert control over the household, Belinda and Norman find themselves in a tense, emotionally taxing situation.
In this horror film, Brandy takes on the main character named Belinda, which marks her second appearance in a scary movie. You might remember her from her earlier role as Karla in “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer” (1998). Andrew Burnap, known for his work in “Snow White”, steps into the shoes of Belinda’s husband, Norman, while Kathryn Hunter, who starred in “Poor Things”, brings Solange to life.
A24 released two trailers for this horror film, and we shared them down below.
If you missed catching “The Front Room” in the cinema, you’ll be able to enjoy it from home as it will be streaming on Max starting January 2025!
