The FBIs will get back to full seasons (What about NCIS?)

As a hardcore fan who’s grown up with these shows, I couldn’t be more thrilled! After a shortened season last year, it feels like we’re finally getting our due – more episodes of our favorite crime dramas! The FBIs getting full season orders is music to my ears. I’m hoping for a whopping 22 episodes this time around, but if not, I’ll settle for anything above 16.

With the approaching resumption of TV shows, we find ourselves pondering over episode counts. Last season, for instance, NCIS aired just 10 episodes in its Season 21 run, while the three FBI series were trimmed to 13 episodes each. What can we expect for this upcoming season?

There’s some great news for fans. We’re getting more episodes of our favorite TV crime dramas.

The FBIs will get full season orders

In response to queries from TVLine, a source associated with the shows has verified that each of them will receive a “complete season commitment.

In other words, we can expect anywhere from 18 to 22 episodes for this series. While some networks consider 13 to 16 episodes as a full season, given CBS’s audience familiarity, it’s probable that they intend more than just a teen number of episodes.

The shows managed to produce 13 episodes each since this kind of programming requires less effort during post-production. Therefore, it’s quite plausible that they will have 22 episodes altogether.

As a devoted fan, I’ve come to understand that not every character from FBI and FBI: Most Wanted will appear in each episode this season, a move aimed at managing costs. Fortunately, FBI: International seems unaffected by this cast reduction, possibly because it already has a smaller main cast of just five series regulars!

NCIS Season 22’s episode count is somewhat confirmed

Regarding the main NCIS series, showrunner Steve D. Binder hasn’t definitively revealed the precise episode count yet. He’s choosing not to specify a particular number, which may be influenced by various factors such as filming hold-ups and post-production issues, potentially resulting in fewer episodes than usual.

What Binder does say is that it’s a “nice season.” We’re hoping for a full season order!

On NCIS, it hasn’t been announced that they will be cutting down their cast members for episodes. With so few characters to begin with, and Knight being absent from the team, it’s not a significant change.

NCIS Season 22 premieres on Monday, Oct. 14 and the FBIs premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 15 on CBS.
