The Fantastic Four: First Steps spoilers follow.
Director Matt Shakman disclosed that there’s been a significant alteration concerning Franklin Richards in the final script compared to the initial one for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”.
The film titled “The Marvelous Four” is the 37th installment in the Marvel universe, where our heroic quartet confronts the Silver Surfer, portrayed by Julia Garner, and Galactus, played by Ralph Ineson. Their objective: to prevent these powerful beings from destroying their world.

As a gamer, I find myself immersed in the storyline where Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), my fellow superhero, and Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) are expecting their baby. The anticipation builds as they ready themselves for the arrival of our little Franklin on Earth-828. This kid takes center stage in the unfolding narrative, becoming a significant part of the plot, although initially, he wasn’t the main focus.
To EW, Shakman shared that the initial plan was for Franklin’s birth to occur at the beginning of the film. He explained, “We thought it would be delightful to show the baby-proofing, the preparations, and watch Reed and Sue get ready for their child.
We chose to relocate Franklin’s birth to the middle of our timeline, making it possible for us to intertwine it with other significant events. Originally, Franklin was born during a space station rescue scene in the beginning of the film, but now he is born in space.
Speaking of it, his birth occurring in space while pursued by the Silver Surfer, and getting flung around a neutron star, made it seem like escalating an already tense situation beyond belief – a classic move reminiscent of the Fantastic Four. He concluded with that remark.
The first steps movie, unveiled on Friday (July 25), has been well-received by critics, currently holding a high approval rating of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 293 reviews.
In our movie review, we noted that the main four actors were ideally cast for their parts, exhibiting a convincing camaraderie on screen, and their interactions were engaging from the outset. We also mentioned that the film provided enjoyable entertainment suitable for summer viewing.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is in cinemas now.
