Okay, so the MCU just keeps growing! The newest movie, First Steps, is a really exciting one for me because it finally brings the Fantastic Four into the mix. We get to meet Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, Sue Storm as the Invisible Woman, her brother Johnny Storm as the Human Torch, and of course, Ben Grimm, who becomes The Thing. It’s the 37th Marvel movie, but honestly, it feels like a whole new beginning!

Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach star as heroes who have to save their world while also dealing with their personal lives. They face a major threat from the Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner, and Galactus, voiced by Ralph Ineson.
According to the story summary, the Fantastic Four go on amazing adventures throughout space, strengthening their family connections and discovering what truly makes them special – their heart and sense of humor.
Director Matt Shakman previously mentioned that the film initially showed Reed and Sue Richards’ baby, Franklin, being born right at the start. However, they decided to change that and instead focus on the couple getting ready for the baby’s arrival.

Shakman explained they were excited to witness the couple, Reed and Sue, preparing for their baby’s arrival, including all the steps they took to make their home safe.
We decided to shift Franklin’s birth to the middle of the story, which let us connect it with other key events. Franklin has always been born in space, but previously, the story began with his birth during a space station rescue.
The idea of his birth already had a lot of tension, but having it happen in space while being pursued by the Silver Surfer and circling a neutron star felt like it amplified that stress a thousandfold – it’s exactly the kind of dramatic thing the Fantastic Four would do.
You can start watching The Fantastic Four: First Steps on Disney+ from November 5th. If you’re in the UK, it’s also available to buy or rent on platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! You can find Ariana & Witches at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
