The Elder Scrolls Online Update 44 to Ditch 4v4v4 PvP Battlegrounds Mode in Favour of 4v4 and 8v8 Matches

As an ardent Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) enthusiast with countless hours spent traversing Tamriel’s vast landscapes, I can hardly contain my excitement for Update 44! The prospect of refining the Battlegrounds PvP mode and adding two new Companions has me itching to don my armor once more.

Bethesda has revealed that The Elder Scrolls Online Update 44 will be available on consoles next month, with its PC version launching today. This latest update enhances the game’s intense Battlegrounds PvP mode, introduces two new Companions, and brings a host of improvements and corrections.

In Update 44, Player versus Player (PvP) combat is changing from three-team battles to two-team skirmishes. You can now engage in 4-player and 8-player modes, with the larger 8-player mode offering power-ups as an added element. This adjustment means that the usual 4-versus-4-versus-4 format is temporarily suspended, but Bethesda hasn’t completely ruled out its potential comeback for special limited-time mini PvP events.

In this update, you’ll find seven fresh Battlegrounds maps and two new companions – Tanlorin and Zerith-var. The first one, Tanlorin, is a resourceful High Elf who blends Soul Magic with Dragonknight skills. On the other hand, Zerith-var, a serious Khajit, specializes in Necromancy powers. You can acquire these new allies by having an active ESO Plus subscription or by purchasing them from the in-game Crown Store.

The upcoming update for The Elder Scrolls Online, named Update 44, is scheduled to drop on November 13th for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. For a detailed look at all the changes, be sure to take a peek at the full patch notes.
