The Elder Scrolls 6 Official Release Date Update Isn’t Too Encouraging

Man, I still remember when Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls VI at E3 2018! Everyone went wild – as you’d expect. We were all still obsessed with Skyrim and desperate to find out what they were cooking up next. It was a huge moment for fans like me.

It’s been nearly eight years since we last heard anything about the game, and that initial excitement has largely faded into disappointment. Considering there were only five years between the fourth and fifth installments, waiting fifteen years for a new release is incredibly frustrating.

Whenever Todd Howard, the head of Bethesda, does an interview – which doesn’t happen often – people always want to know how development on their latest projects is going. He recently answered that question, and unfortunately, his update isn’t what many fans were hoping for.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard Has Given An Update On The Elder Scrolls 6

In a recent interview with IGN to promote the new Starfield DLC, Bethesda’s Todd Howard was asked about The Elder Scrolls VI. His response was surprisingly blunt: he jokingly told everyone to “Just pretend we didn’t announce it. Doesn’t exist.”

This doesn’t necessarily mean we won’t see more of the game in the future, but Howard explained he prefers a different approach to announcing games than they’ve used before.

Looking back at the announcements for Fallout 76, Starfield, and Elder Scrolls 6 from our 2018 E3 presentation, the main goal was to keep our audience informed. When we start working on something new, people naturally ask about games like Elder Scrolls 6 or if we’ll make a single-player experience. We addressed those questions at the time, but that approach wasn’t ideal, personally.

The Elder Scrolls Fans Still Have A Lot Of Waiting To Do

Regardless of what Howard meant with his recent comment, it’s obvious that fans of The Elder Scrolls will be waiting a while longer for the next game. While Oblivion Remastered gave them something to enjoy, and a remastered version of Fallout 3 is rumored to be coming, the community won’t be truly satisfied until the new game is released.
