However, FromSoftware’s parent company has confirmed that this isn’t happening.

Kadokawa Group’s recent financial report included positive news for fans of both The Duskbloods and Elden Ring. Despite a lack of updates this year, the company confirmed that both The Duskbloods and the Tarnished Edition of Elden Ring are still scheduled to launch in 2026.

The special Switch 2 version of Elden Ring, called the Tarnished Edition, was originally planned for release before the end of 2025. After reports surfaced about performance issues on the Nintendo console, FromSoftware announced the game would now launch in 2026. It’s been over three months since that announcement, and there hadn’t been any new information – until today, when Kadokawa reported an update.

It’s Been A While Since We Last Heard Anything About The Duskbloods

The Duskbloods, a game revealed during the Nintendo Switch 2’s first presentation, won’t be released until 2026. Nintendo followed up with a blog post explaining the game, but we haven’t received any further updates about its release date or what players can expect since then.

We weren’t anticipating seeing The Duskbloods until late 2025, but last week’s presentation was expected to focus on upcoming third-party games for the Switch 2. Instead, it mostly reiterated information we already had. The biggest news was confirmation that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is coming to the Switch 2 earlier than expected, along with a more detailed look at Orbitials.

Showing more of The Duskbloods, and releasing it closer to the Switch 2’s launch, might have created a better impression of the new console’s third-party game lineup in 2026. While the recent Nintendo Direct wasn’t as impactful as hoped, it’s good that both The Duskbloods and the Elden Ring Tarnished Edition were confirmed to be coming out before the year ends – at least for now.
