The Day Of The Jackal star Ursula Corbero star sends fans wild with her racy social media snaps after revealing she was ‘confused’ by her ‘weak’ role
As a lifelong fan of thrilling tales and suspenseful narratives, I must say that the recent adaptation of “The Day of the Jackal” has truly piqued my interest. Having grown up with the iconic 1973 film, I was initially skeptical about revisiting such a revered story. However, the prospect of expanding this gripping narrative across multiple episodes seemed too enticing to resist.
She’s been lighting up screens with her role in Sky TV’s The Day Of The Jackal.
Additionally, actress Ursula Corbero, known for “The Day of the Jackal,” has ignited social media with a series of provocative photos.
In a different setting: Ursula, aged 35, takes on the role of Nuria in the dramatic TV series. She is married to Eddie Redmayne’s character, who portrays a mysterious assassin earning a living by executing contracts for top dollar.
Nuria enjoys a lavish lifestyle alongside their child, blissfully unaware of her spouse’s actual occupation. However, suspicions of an extramarital affair prompt her to delve into the reality behind her husband’s work.
Ursula, famously recognized as the actress behind Tokyo from Money Heist on Netflix, is followed by over 20 million people on Instagram. She frequently shares provocative photos with her audience, such as shots in a swimsuit and even bare-chested ones.
At the London premiere, Ursula admitted that upon first taking on her new role, she had mistakenly interpreted her character’s nature.
To be honest, I found myself drawn to this character at first sight, though I must admit there were moments when I felt slightly perplexed due to what seemed like a display of vulnerability or weakness.
Later on, it struck me that our practice sessions with Eddie and Brian were crucial. That’s where I understood the development of the character. It was quite intriguing for me to experience this.
Pictures from the programme show Ursula and Eddie getting steamy as they get into character.
In a particular episode of the series, Jackal tenderly touches his wife’s face, as she returns the gesture by looking at him with deep affection, reminiscing happier moments together.
The reboot has some elements that are rooted in a tale partially inspired by Frederick Forsyth’s 1971 novel with the same title.
The source material for the ten-episode series offers insights into the political climate during its composition.
In the narrative, Eddie portrays the role of a skilled, hired gun known as The Jackal. This character is tasked with assignments by a clandestine organization called the OAS, which stands for ‘Secret Military Organization’, a group that indeed existed in reality.
In the original story, a faction within the parliament intended to carry out an assassination on the then-President of France, Charles de Gaulle. This was actually a historical event that took place.
The purpose behind the group’s actions was to prevent Algeria from achieving independence from French control, an event that the President intended to put to a vote through a referendum in 1961.
In the book, the early attempts to kill the character are rooted in reality, but the events that unfold afterwards are purely imaginative.
The series production is handled by Carnival Films, with Sky Studios taking on the role of commissioner. Once completed, Sky Studios plans to broadcast the series in the United Kingdom and large parts of Europe. Additionally, the series will be available for streaming on Peacock in the US.
According to The Mirror, Eddie’s large salary was a record-breaking sum for a star, but it seems this high compensation is starting to become standard practice when major corporations like Netflix, Apple, and in this instance, Peacock, are involved.
According to a source, while numerous television companies and broadcasting networks are grappling with tightened budgets, they seem to be thriving when it comes to producing high-quality dramas intended for a worldwide audience, particularly the streaming services.
‘If you can do a deal with one of them, you can absolutely break the bank.’
The small-screen adaptation was crafted by Ronan Bennett, who is both the originator and scribe of the critically praised English crime drama Top Boy. In addition, it features Chukwudi Iwuji from Guardians of the Galaxy and Charles Dance from Game of Thrones.
The Day Of The Jackal was directed by Brian Kirk whose credits include Game Of Thrones and Luther.
The show is created by Carnival Films, a branch under Universal International Studios, a subdivision of the Universal Studio Group.
In this role setup, Eddie functions as the main executive producer, while Lashana works alongside as a co-executive producer, and writer Frederick takes on the consultant producer position.
The team members Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant, who had previously collaborated on Downton Abbey, shared their thoughts on the production with GQ magazine.
Gareth mentioned that he and someone else shared a fondness for the same book. As children, they watched the movie version together, and over the course of his life, he’s rewatched the film numerous times, maintaining a deep respect for it.
Initially hesitant due to the prestige associated with the original content, the prospect of spreading the narrative over a series of television episodes proved irresistible and couldn’t be passed up.
We find the original tale so captivating and timeless, we believe updating it for modern times, using the advantages of a series format, would create a fascinating viewing experience. That’s why we plan to revamp this well-regarded intellectual property in this manner.
Nigel concurred: “It seems that such a title is deeply embedded in many minds… And indeed, why not present this story on a larger scale?
Regarding the reason for placing the storyline in the 2020s instead of the ’60s as depicted in the original novel and movie, Gareth explained it by stating: “Why revisit the past if we can’t surpass the film? There’s no point in recreating it.
The Day of the Jackal premiered on Sky Atlantic and Now TV on Thursday 7 November
