The Day of the Jackal season 2 probably isn’t coming in 2025 (here’s why)
As a dedicated gamer with a knack for binge-watching the best of the best, I can confidently say that The Day of the Jackal has been one of my most exhilarating experiences in the world of streaming television this year. The season finale twist was an absolute game-changer (and a testament to their excellent storytelling), and I couldn’t be more thrilled about the prospects for season 2.
Following six gripping episodes, “The Day of the Jackal” concluded its initial run on a high, leaving viewers stunned by the unexpected twist in the season finale (I was caught off guard too!). The ending certainly set the stage for an even more thrilling second season of this espionage series. Fortunately, both Peacock and Sky swiftly renewed the show for season 2 just a few weeks into its first season.
Without a doubt, “The Day of the Jackal” stood out among Peacock shows in 2024 due to its exceptional acting, compelling narrative, and massive audience appeal. With the first season now behind us, everyone’s eagerly anticipating what’s coming next. Most importantly, we can’t help but wonder when we’ll get another chance to see the Jackal back in action for season 2.
There’s both positive and negative news regarding the upcoming season of “The Day of the Jackal”. On the bright side, a second season has indeed been announced. However, given the production schedule of the first season, it seems we may have to be patient for quite some time before new episodes become available. Unfortunately, based on the current information about season 1’s production timeline, it appears that season 2 might not air until 2025.
The Day of the Jackal season 2 might premiere in 2026
As for the final episode of “The Day of the Jackal” Season 1 on December 12th, neither Peacock nor Sky has disclosed a start date for filming Season 2 yet. Given that the renewal happened prior to the season finale, it’s plausible that scriptwriting might commence before the year ends, or alternatively, the Season 2 writing team could have already been assembled, an approach similar to Netflix and other streaming platforms.
Initially, filming started in June 2023 and spanned across various countries until November 2023. However, the first season didn’t debut until a year later, in November 2024. This gap between wrapping up production and releasing the season isn’t ideal if we’re looking forward to season 2. Here’s hoping this delay won’t happen again, but considering the pace, it seems likely.
It’s possible that filming for Season 2 of “The Day of the Jackal” might start around early 2025, possibly between January and April. After that, there will be approximately five months of production followed by an undetermined period for post-production. All things considered, current predictions indicate a release date for Season 2 in the year 2026. Unfortunately, this isn’t the news fans are hoping for, but it seems to be the current situation.
Given Eddie Redmayne’s hectic acting schedule and the likelihood of season 2 not premiering until 2026, it becomes even clearer. The Academy Award winner is set to appear next in “Panic Carefully” alongside Julia Roberts, Elizabeth Olsen, and Bryan Tyree Henry. As reported by Deadline, principal photography for this film directed by Sam Esmail will commence in January 2025.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the updates about season 2 of “The Day of the Jackal” won’t take too much time to arrive, followed by its launch. The show has been a ratings success, received positive reviews, and has already started receiving awards recognition from prestigious organizations like the Golden Globes and Critic’s Choice Awards. Keep an eye out for further updates on this highly anticipated series, as we’ll be sharing all the latest news about the new sensation among fans!
